Security downloads fail to load
I've downloaded 2 different files but they fail to install. These are:
KB956390 and KB958215.
When starting Windows XP Pro, I get the reminder to install these updates,

Occasionally I'm asked in a pop-up window to install SP-3 CD, but I don't

the XP operating system for which I have a disk. Is there anyway to keep my
existing programs and files? I probably dont have installation disks for all

Hosts file
I decided to look at the hosts file in my XP system and found that instead
of just the line I was told to expect
"127.0.0.1 local host"
it actually has 9000 entries ! The entries start with:
# Start of entries inserted by Spybot - Search & Destroy
and then the 9000 entries which are similar to
127.0.0.1 www.007guard.com
and the last line is:

Using an orphan ntuser.dat to re-create original user
Through a series of unfortunate steps I am unable to remember or that really
matter, I am left with the parent folder which contains all the files of the
user I accidentally deleted. It includes the ntuser.dat file. The folder is
named user.lastname.workgroupname.
The userlist shows this ntuser.dat file as a unknown user so I can't copy it.
in addition, all machine names, workgroup nam...

This is my personal computer. I am the adminstrator. I've never altered
any settings. What's happening and how do I troubleshoot this?...

XP Local Printer Installation Under Limited User Rights
Hi,
We are running XP Pro SP2 in a Novell environment. We are able to
push out local group policies to the workstations using the Novell
Zenworks tools if needed. We have a mandate to lock down the
workstations by putting the users in the "Users" group as they are all
currently administrators of their systems. One of the biggest issues
we have with this is our mobile users not being abl...
