Ok I'm not sure whether I'm posting to the right newgroups regarding this
problem so please forgive me if I'm not.
I need to gain access to a deceased person's profile in a "My Documents"
folder.
This computer was confiscated, shortly after the person died, by a relative.
Nine months later this relative has handed the computer over to me to fix
their recurring booting problem.

"Access is denied" when clicking folders
I'm using XP MCE 2005 SP2. Whenever I click on any folder in my C (NTFS) and
D (FAT32) partitions, I get "Access is denied." Files are not affected. I can
delete, rename, move, and copy folders, and even open them by
right-clicking. I can browse through folders in Explorer, I just can't click
on them directly. This started happening either after installing the

System time going AHEAD 100+ years
Good morning,
Any search on system time issues yields approx. 1,897,345,321 pages
detailing problems with the CMOS battery. This is not that kind of problem.
I support 200+ Windows XP SP2 systems, bought in batches over the years.
About 20% are 5+ years old, about 20% are 6 - 12 months old, the rest fall in
between.
Random machines around the campus are coming up with date January 2...

MSN Toolbar included with Sun Java Security 'updates'
Beware of the *opt-out* behavior of Sun's java automatic updater. In the
US, at least, the MSN toolbar comes PREchecked [opt-out] and will
install along with purported java 'security' updates. Said 'security'
updates are presented as the latest version of Sun's java runtime.
Including crappy toolbars with security updates as an opt-out is a
REALLY dumb, shortsighted decision.
Shame on ...
