IE Error Message
I receive "Internet Explorer cannot display webpage etc." message on several
sites, but clearly I am viewing the page. It seems to be in place of ads on
the page. How can I get rid of error message, even if it means replacing it
with ads which I can then make other arrangements to suppress?
Thanks.

XP can't find 2nd monitor after upgrading from 98SE
Just upgraded from 98SE to XP (system not powerful enough to run Vista).
In 98SE, had two monitors. Motherboard has built-in video, plus I
added 2 video cards to support the 2 monitors I have (once AGP, one
PCI). In 98SE, in Device Manager, had to disable (or uninstall, can't
remember which) the onboard video to get the 2 added cards to be
recognized and to get one of them to be the ...

System Restore
I'm running SP2... my HP laptop Pavilion zd8000 has been my primary

I'm a frequent user of the System Restore feature.
About a month ago I noticed that my attempts to restore started to be
unsuccessful.... I've tried exercising the feature by taking it off,
rebooting a bit without it, and then reapplying it. No lu...

where did all the RAM go?
OK, suppose I've got a brand new virgin laptop with XP and a standard
set of useless pre-installed software running in the backgrund (like
Windows Messenger). How much RAM does the OS and all the default stuff
use up, on average?
I have a 1 y.o. T43 IBM laptop with XP, SP2, 512 Mb of RAM. The
problem is standard - it has recently become very slow, first noticed
when browsing the internet.

Saving settings when rebooting or turning off my pc
When rebooting or turning of my pc, previously it was fairly quick, about a
minute total. But for the past month or so it's taking at least between 4-5
mins just to save the settings. Then another couple of mins to close &
reopen.
I've run virus checks, spy programs, cleaned out my documents yet the
slowness remains. I should have done a system restore at that time, but
