Problems installing a cd-rom
Yesterday I installed a 2nd CD/DVD rom. Immediately after, my computer
would only boot in "safe mode". When the rom drive(s) were disabled,
the pc was able to boot normally again. Basically, this 2nd cd-rom
won't install (it's brand new). The first one (A), which I've been
using for about a year works fine on it's own, but when I plug that
other one in, neither work.

XP Home & multiple scanner installation problem
Dear people,
To keep it short: laptop & XP home, installed HP Deskjet F380 All-in-One for
regular use; all is fine. I also have a Mustec A3 scanner that I installed &
used a while later. Then the HP doesn't work anymore: after uninstalling
BOTH, I get the HP not installed. During the installation I get this message:
Error 1321: the installer has insufficient privileges to modify the file...

DVD Writer / Cd Writer combo won't read or write CD-rw's
I didn't notice this problem because I've burnt CD-RW's in the past, but
recently when trying to, my drive is telling me I have no disc inserted.
I know it still reads and plays DVD's(just tested it seconds ago), but when
I pop a blank disc in and try to burn some files onto it, it still give me
the "insert cd" bs.
It's weird I went to the manufacturer's site(HP) to get the driver for ...

Extremely odd issue with printing to shared printer
Hello,
I'm having a very strange issue with a shared printer.
I've changed the driver and the printer on the server, but kept the
same name as a previous printer.
I then run a script (on the client) that stops the spooler, removes
the driver from the registry, restarts the spooler.
I then install the printer using win32_printers.
If I then try to test print to the printer from...

Mouse still on after shutdown
After all these years I finally decided to ask this question.
When I turn my computer off using Start/Turn Off Computer/Turn Off, the read
light on my USB Microsoft Mouse remains on. Why is this? I suppose it is
because the USB ports stay hot after shutdown unless power is completely
removed from the computer either by unplugging or using the switch on the
back on the power supply.

Hard Drive move to another Pc
My Gateway XP desktop got hit by lighting and fried the motherboard and
power supply. Tech wanted $500 to fix, so I just had them copy the hard
drive to a portable so I would have the data available on my laptop. I
found a new motherboard and ps for $200. Debating if it's worth it for the
replacement parts or instead buy a used tower. If I buy a used Gateway tower

No 2.1 and 4.1 sound setups in Windows XP's advanced audio properties?
Hello.
I noticed Windows XP's advanced audio properties don't show 2.1 and 4.1
speakers setups, but do have .1 (subwoofer) for 5 and 7 speakers setups.
Is there a way to have/add 2.1/4.1 speakers setups?
Thank you in advance. :)
