Wireless Laser Mouse 6000 - jerky tracking?
I just replaced a MS Wireless Intellimouse 2.0 with at MS Wireless Laser
Mouse 6000... The laser mouse tracking seems quite "ragged" compared to the
old mouse.
On a piece of white paper, the mouse will jump a bit left and right when
moving the mouse forward and backwards. The forward/backward motion also
seems kinda jerky and even seems to jump small amounts in reverse. This is

How to run SCANDISK Surface Scan in XP
Hello,
Does anybody know how to run a Scandisk surface scan the old-fashioned
(Windows 98) way, where it gives a VISUAL representation of how many
bad sectors you have on a disk?
I've run the new-and-improved "CHKDSK /R /F" but that doesn't give me
the visual information that I'm looking for. Is there any way to boot
an XP machine into DOS and FORCE it to run a Scandisk surface scan
(r...

"This Device can run Faster..."
Been watching posts concerning the usb connect message, "This device can
run faster... usb 2.0..." and have experienced it several times myself,
and, in the past, simply given up as I knew things were plugged into 2.0
ports and hubs.
Yesterday, rearranging my (physical) desktop, I got this message but
knew that I was connecting the same device to the same port, but... was
using a diff...

USB question
Is there any way to upgrade or change the USB capabilities of an old system
(pre 1999 on an Asus-P2B-LS)? This system has USB ports but because of its
age must be USB 1.1. I would like to use a USB 2.0 external USB wireless-G
USB adapter to incorporate this box into my network but fear it will choke
the dataflow on the Asus down to low Mbps. (my network is 802.11-g)
Probable a lost cause...

PCI graphics card performance in Thinkcentre
I hope someone can explain what is happening on the following config:
I have an IBM Thinkcentre m55 (Core Duo 1.86 with 2Gb RAM) - it has an
onboard video controller. This machine does NOT have a PCI-EXPRESS 16 slot.
I needed to run a 3D application so I got a PCI (old standard) NVIDIA FX5200
card.
The 3D graphics features now work BUT EXTREMELY slowly. Is this because

Optical Mouse, Horizontal Scrolling Issue
When I scroll up with the mouse wheel the page that I am looking at will move
up as well, but then snap down a "click". If you think of the mouse having
gears, as I scroll away from me to make the page go up, the page will go up
but then "rebound" back down a line or two as if it hit a missing gear.
Scrolling down is not a problem, nor are any other mouse features.

256 MB memory missing
Hello,
I have two DDR DIMM slots on my motherboard and before I had
768 (512 + 256) MB memory with two memory modules. Everything
was fine at that time. Recently I bought a 1 GB DDR DIMM 400 MHz
memory module. My motherboard's manual tells that I can use up to
1 GB DDR DIMM in any slot. I should be free to use any slot as well.
Well, the problem is that when I put 1 GB memory to one slot...

monitor brightness and your eyes
Does monitor brightness have a correlation to long-term health of one's eyes
? Is this on a person-by-person basis ? Is it as simple as adjusting to
one's comfort ? Or is it better to try and get used to a brighter (dimmer)
monitor ? Any objective way to measure brightness ?
Thanks.

XP Wireless Networking IBM t30
Not sure if this should be here or in a hardware forum. My CEO has an

have updated the drivers, rolled back the drivers, etc. All to no
avail. It does not appear to be a hardware issue a...
