Refresh rate
IO have a general question about Flat Screen Monitors. Do they have a
refresh rate associated with them or has the terminology changed. The
last monitor I bought was probably 8 years ago and a lot has changed. I
am looking for something with a refresh rate of at least 85 hz at 1024x768

Windows can't find my DVD drive
Running Windows Xp pro; service pack 2. I have two dvd drives; one
external and one internal. Don't really use them much as I can't even
remember when I used them last. Today; I bought a new printer. When I
attempted to put the installation disk in the external Dvd drive;
nothing happened. After eventually checking my device manager; I noticed

Wireless adapter
I am using WindowsXP SP3 and the computer is IBM PC6300.
I have installed a Dlink WDA 1320 wireless adapter in that computer. All
drivers are the latest from Dlink. Everything is working fine.
When I am not using this wireless PC, I always power it off.
Once in a while, When I power on this PC, WindowsXP will tell me that there
is a new hardware found and list it under "Other devices...

Erratic computer
I run Win XP SP2 on my generic computer.
I use a SATA drive (PCI Controller) for the C: drive (boot). For my backup
drive I use an older IDE 80GB drive.
Occasionally, when I boot the computer in the morning, and try to access the
backup drive, windows cannot find the drive. However, when I reboot the
computer, the backup drive pops right up.

Remove device using DEVCON.EXE?
When I try to remove a device using DEVCON.EXE it seems to break up the
command in to several independent commands whenever there is a &-sign.
F.ex. I have a USB device with device instance ID:
USB\VID_0529&PID_0001\5&3A341374&0&2
But when I try to remove it this happens:
H:\wsh>devcon hwids USB\VID_0529*
USB\VID_0529&PID_0001\5&3A341374&0&2

cd rom
none of my cd games would work just dvd's so i decided id delete the cd rom
drive and just reinstall it. after i did this i went back to my computer and
it wouldnt show up so now im here asking for questions

C-Media Audio card drivers
I have a C-Media CMI8738 Audio card and the drivers that I got at this time
doesn't work properly. A friend of mine that both the same audio card he get
the driver form Windows Update; well he has Vista and he receve a n audio
control panel called Xear 3D. Haw can I get that update on XP Profesional

webcam problem
my creative webcam stopped....so I bought a new oneand now that wont
work either???
Have tried uninstall...install....driver updates ...all sorts....ten
was unable to system restore...had to disable it and start
again....still can not get webcam to work.
It says there was a problem....!!!

Need help to diagnose laptop LCD problem
Hi - I have an older Dell Inspiron 8500 running Windoes XP and the LCD

The dual channel memory in xp pro
So XP Pro can only handle 3.4 gigs of RAM, correct? I have (4) dimm slots
with (2) 1 gig sticks achieving a total of 2 gigs in dual channel mode. This
leaves 2 open. I was only wanting to add another gig. Therefore I thought I
would just get a 1 gig stick. If I stick one stick in 1 of the 2 remaining
slots, will it mess up the dual channel mode on the other 2 sticks? If it

USB Devices Attached has mulfunctions
My PC have 6 USB ports, 5 ports are connected with other devices, recently
bought a new USB printer &installed the necessary software, but failed to
print as system prompt the error msg " USB devices attached to this computer
has mulfunctions & windows does not recognize it ".

Delayed startup
Lately, when I switch on my desktop, it takes between one and even 10 minutes before it
powers up.

CDROM DVD reads CD don't
My CD-ROM has stopped working. Tried different things to no avail. Noticed
that it will read a DVD, but a CD or blank CD it ask's to please insert a

Two drive laptop?
I have a laptop with 100 gb SATA drive and a new 250gb SATA drive. I want
to upgrade the drive and would like to use Acronis TI to clone the 100->250
without using the USB method.
How can I connect both drives to the laptop at the same time so I can clone
directly?

Super large Keyboard, but cannot see F1 -F12 keys
I have a friend who is legally blind and uses a super large keyboard and a
32" screen to see anything at all.
Whenever I am at his location and want to help and it asks for a F- key,
they are not on his keyboard and I have not found any combination yet, that
produces them.

eSATA Raid
Just bought a PCI-Express Dual ESATA / Dual Internal SATA Port card to
connect an eSATA Dual Drive Docking Station. The idea is to have two
separate backups, but I've noticed the card has RAID.

How can I re-allow default display adapter?

I have been very stupid. I am trying to get my NVIDIA card working in my

óHKDSK runs for 20 min every startup. How to prevent?
Hello,
Once I had to turn down my freezed XP in a brutal way simply by taking
battery out (notebook).
Then on startup CHKDSK checked the disks (C and E) and XP was up again
alright.
But the problem is that now every time I turn the system up it's the CHKDSK
that comes up and starts checking
for 20 min (stage 1 then 2 then 3.....) the disk E (not C) and only after XP
is allowed to go ...

DVD dock supermulti recorder & RW does not play
Hi
I hope that this is the correct forum for my question.
I have a Toshiba Libretto DVD Dock Supermulti recorder & RW, Model no.

This does not play and it is not displayed in explorer. I have tried a few

Sound card stop working
My Asus motherboard Sound card stop working, Realtek AC'97. Device Manger
Audio Property device driver shows that it works fine but under the DirectX
Diagnostic sound device the driver is not listed. If I boot to linux the
