This issue was recently resolved. I have the same problem. Unfortunately the

Delay in finding drives in "My Computer"
Windows XP, Media Edition, SP 3
After bootup and browsing web pages the access to show my drives in "My
Computer" takes 3 minutes of the flashlight swinging before I can see my
drives.
It started 2 days ago and doing 2 System Restores did not fix it.
Can anybody help.

lost start menu and task bar
I logged onto my machine this morning to find my start menu, taskbar and all
shortcut icons have disappeared. I can open programs through task manager
but i dont know how to get my start screen back. Many thanks in anticipation

Folder Redirection Changed & now problems arise
Hello Folks:
I recently had to change the folders ( and server) that the users were
storing "My Documents" on.
I went to the wizard and changed the folders from \\OldServername\users (a
member server) to \\SBS-New-Servername\users (the SBS server) which is the

Windows 2000 Cannot Load The Profile

Defrag Fails wide spread
What has happened to the defrag operation? A lot of users are experiencing
this widely spread over various operating systems. I use XP home. I use
Diskeeper made by Executive Software and it fails all the time with three
options available!
Executive softwares web site is unavailable and says it is being upgraded

USB flash drive
Hi
Wonder if anyone can help.
A friend has just purchase a 4gb usb flash pen drive but for some reason
we can't *see* it or find it on his computer,does not show up in *my
computer*.
When you plug it into the usb port you get the *dong/dong sound as you

creating mailing labels in Word using Oulook Express Address Book
I have Windows XP (auto updated so I think it's current) and Outlook Express 6.
I would like to use the Address Book as my Mail Merge recepient list when
using MS Word.

RDP issues
Hey all.
I am having RDP issues w/ one of my workstations.
This particular workstation is WinXP SP3. What happens is that I cannot make

Trojan?
What on earth is InstallHelper.exe. I've run scans until I'm blue in the
face, and using a Dr. something AV 1-time scan this came up on the thorough
scan. I didn't on OneCare, or TrendMicro, or AVG, and there's little in
HijackThis and nothing to fret about.
Not sure this is even an infection. Nothing on MS website about it, only in
Google and that wasn't very clear to a novice on infe...

Search has changed
Lately when I go to Start>Search>For Files or Folders I get a window labeled
"Windows Search Results" then I have to click on a 'Click here...' at the
bottom in order to get the window "Search Results" which is what I wanted.
Can someone please tell me how to go directly to the Search Results window?

wierd application window
I am unable to close down the application window connected to the ctrl alt
del function. (You know, the application that helps you shut down dodgy
programs, not sure whay it is called in English.) Anyways, the blue line on

Thoughs on deleting .log files?
Over the years how things grow. This system with Win XP Home, Sp3 has grown from about 4.5 GB to
well over 12GB. Much if it is pictures and must have tweaks, like a talking dictionary etc.. But
I find a lot of JUNK, like over a Gig of .log files, any suggestions on which or what .log to
delete? Are there any log files which should be keep? I'am open to any help or suggestions, other

VPN Issue
Hi,
I have an XP PRO SP3 pc that we have created a PPTP VPN to connect to
another network.
For some reason the VPN disconnects after 1 minute!
I have checked the settings of the VPN and it is set to never disconnect on
idle. Also ICS is disabled.
I have 3 other PC's which connect to the same external network, via VPN and
they all work fine.
Anyone have any ideas?

LCD tv monitor out of range problem(s)
problems:
my LCD tv monitor goes blank and displays 'out of range' after I changed the
resolution to 1920 x 1080. Is there any other solutions beside doing the
repair setups for a multiple of times? Besides. my lcd TV takes 1920 x 1080
for PC resolution at maximum output. Yet there is no update for Intel graphic
