SP3/IE patch
specs: Dell 6000 Inspiron, XP Pro, SP2, IE 6.0
I updated my computer to Service Pack 3, and then tried going online. I was
able to receive a wireless signal and connect to it, but not use it. I would
get a message saying "limited or no connectivity" I would try to repair the

SP3 - FAILURE TO INSTALL
having problems with this - have followed all the advice in the attached link

Uninstalling Adobe Acrobat Pro 8--Win Xp Pro
Yesterday when I fired up Acrobat, I got a courtesy message that an update
to 8.3.1 was available. I decided to try it, so hit the necessary buttons,
and off it went. An hour later it seemed to have stalled. A window showed
there 2 minutes left in the install. 30 minutes later it hadn't changed. I

Admin lockout issue
OK, here's the situation:
I purchased two corporate machines at a bankruptcy sale. I do not have the
OS reboot disc, the authentification code for the OS, or the administrative
password. I cannot add/delete programs, I cannot do a system restore, and
essentially I am stuck with a good machine and OS but can do little with it

SP3 intall failure
I just installed SP3. Now my system runs bios then boots xp then resets and
starts the boot sequence all over again. Turned system off and on; same
symptomes.
Tried booting into safe mode; same symptoms.
Tried booting into Last KNown good config that workd; same symptoms.
Tried booting into Disable Auto Restart on System Failure. That lock on page

Unknown missing .dll messages
One of the computers on our network is receiving the following messages upon
startup:
Error loading C:\WINDOWS\System32\guvuvara.dll
The specified module could not be found.

Yelp!, Tried to chkdsk and now cannot boot system
I have been unable to install SP#, so, decided to forget it. I defragged and
found errors so decided to use chkdsk on boot up. this seemed to work well
until it hit 52% checked. At that point it seemed to "stall" and the hard

Shortcut has a word for a target rather than a path
On the desktop or in Start/Programs/QuickTime/ there are shortcuts.
When I look at the properties of the short cuts for PictureViewer or
QuickTime Player the Target textbox contains simply the term QuickTime.
I expected to find a file path there.
Is there a mapping between such terms and a path someplace in the registry?
If not, can you tell me what is going on there?

Locked reg key
Hi all,
I've just cleared load of viruses off a friend's laptop but I've got an odd
problem with the registry. There's a reference to one of the infected files
I deleted in there in a couple of different places - one is in HKCR\CLSID,
the other is in

Dell monitor enters "PowerSave Mode" at random
We bought this PC (Dell) in June of this year, and it came bundled with a 17"
widescreen monitor. The monitor has always run in its suggested native

Spyware Guard disables Malwarebytes A-M?
I'm trying to clean an XP Pro sp3 box of a particularly nasty piece of
malware called Spyware Guard 2008. From what I've seen on the net,
Malwarebytes AntiMalware is supposed to do a good job of removing this.
Although I've downloaded mbam-setup.exe, I can't get it to install. It
starts, but then it just sits there, with Task Manager showing allocated
memory of 2,016 K but no CPU usage...

Restore MS icons shortcuts on start menu
Hi Guys,
I need some help.
I recently had an issue with my laptop's hardrive. It had two partitions. My
IT dept removed the one partition to make a single c drive.

Access Denied to Save As
I really need help fast. I am on a laptop and I am the administrator, no
other users. When I try to Save As, any document, to a CD, (D: drive), it
gives me a message saying,"Access Denied", I click OK, and it sends me a
message that says, This drive is not accessible, see your administrator.

Printing trouble shooting
My friend recently changed his internet provider to Verizon, and since then
he is experiencing a problem printing. He can still print his email messages
with no problems. However, when he surfs the net with the Internet Explorer

automatic file writting to cd
How can I disable this annoying feature, everytime i boot up, a icon appears
in my taskbar telling me i have files ready to be writtin to cd, PLEZZZZZ,

Microsoft office enterprise 2007
where I work allow us to have a copy of ms office enterprise 2007 and I have
a valid license, but in the middle install I get this error.
setup cannot find enterpriser.ww\enterrww.cab
browse to a valid installation source.

Cannot install card reader(s)
On my new XP Pro install.... I cannot get my card reader(s) via USB to
install; through any USB connection on my computer. one is just a plain jane
single compact flash reader that is "SCM Micro USBAT-02". the other is a
Sandisk 12-1 multi-card reader. have had problems with the second one before
