Open applications not minimised to taskbar
Win xp pro. single user. I had a little bother with bookmarks on upgrading to the latest firefox and decided use system restore to step back one day. That seemed to go ok but now I have a problem with windows. No open applications are notified in the taskbar, and even if minimised do not appear there. I notice that if an open window is minimised it shrinks to the bottom left of the ...

Folder Redirection Changed & now problems arise
Hello Folks: I recently had to change the folders ( and server) that the users were storing "My Documents" on. I went to the wizard and changed the folders from \\OldServername\users (a member server) to \\SBS-New-Servername\users (the SBS server) which is the default folder for the SBS box. Then I manually copied over the files and everything seemed to be working fine, until I ch...

How to exclude a certain EventID in EventViewer
I find Event ID 1517 on a regular basis in the Application tab of the Event Viewer. I know what application that causes this event, and that I can do noting to correct it. The EventID 1517 is a warning, hardly a problem. I wonder if there is a way to exclude the Event ID 1517 entries from the Event Viewers Application tab. I am quite familiar with the registry editor - but I don't know ...

Can use System Restore for disk crash?
My understanding is that having some form of registry backup, even if available on an external medium like a CD, will do no good when recovering from a disk crash. This is because the registry data is meaningful only in the context of applications existing on the machine at the time of the registry backup. Is this right? And a corollary is: the only way to recover from a disk crash (I hav...
