I can not not find folder option in Windows xp professional
Dear all,
I always use windows xp professional in my PC. Thats work
good and i have no problem. But few days ago i have a problem which
troubles me so seriously. My O/S affected by Many kinds of virus, so i
clean my pc by Mcafee 8.0i but i can not find folder option when i
explore my computer , on tools menu. I repair my O/S .but steel i
found this problem. how can i solve this ...

Creating Backup Disks of Windows XP
Hi all.
I am not sure what microsofts position is on this.
Are you allowed to make a single backup copy of your original Windows XP
disk for security purposes?
If you are allowed is it Possible?
If it is possible how do you do it??

How to rename a drive?
I apologize for not saving the replies when I posted this before.
I use external hard drives and flash drives on my pc. One external hard
drive is full of music, and I have playlists that look for it on the I drive,
which is what it usually is. But depending on what drives I have used most

default folder customizations and tasks change
My XP MCE 2005 is constantly changing the preset customizations and tasks
for the special folders and the harddrive root folders. However often I
reset them back to defaults sooner or later they invariably change to
something else.
For instance right now Explorer is showing the following:
My Documents (on C:)-- Video files customization and Tasks [923 folders
including My Pictures]...

Dual Monitor Problem
I use my laptop at work with dual monitors and at home as a single
monitor.
When I switch back to a single monitor, some programs actually still
try to open in the second monitor (that is not plugged in). So I end
up with a taskbar window showing the program but the application
window is not visible. If I minimize and maximize I can see the
window flashing to open in the second monitor (...

custom unattended windows xp install
Hello,
I've got a slipstreamed xp CD and a machine that i want to install it
on. I know that the box's video, sound, and possibly network interface, are
not in the xp install. I'd like to do an unattended install and include
these drivers in the setup. I've read about the $OEM$ section but am
uncertain how to set it up for multiple drivers, and the OemDriverPATH
setting in winnt.sif...

C Drive Icon
I have lost the Icon for my C Drive, I can still see the drive and
everything works ok but the yellow folder icon will not show. I have 3
drives, C, D & E, D & E are the same as they always have been but C is now
just a basic standard icon.
Any ideas how to change back to the usual XP Drive Icon?

please help- in desperate need
I recently reinstalled Windows XP due to the fact that windows update
crashed my Nvidia network driver. Now I am in big trouble because My
documents is no longer accessible. What seems to be the cause is that I had
made My documents private and after the reinstall I've become a stranger to
myself. Is there a way around this problem?

hardware notification
XP Home, SP 2,
used to be in the system tray an icon telling me that plug and play hardware
was installed or connected usually via USB port or hub.
That icon has stopped showing itself, about three days now,
and now before I unplug a device I must go to Device Manager and disable the
device in effect manually.
How can I get the icon back to disable plug and play devices?

Dissapearing icons
Hello
XPSP2 etc
For quite a while now the icons to the right of the task bar
where the date lives sometimes does not display all the icons
of progs I know start with windows.
Even the little speaker refuses to appear and I cant adjust the sound.
Where are they kept? Or any other thoughts would be helpful.

How to tell whether a new computer uses EFI or BIOS?
Generally the sales staff is clueless,<g>
Is there any easy way to fire up a new computer and determine whether
the input/output system is the new EFI?

Unable to see details of the updates
I have noticed that when I click on the link to see more details about the
available updates nothing happens - how can I see the details ( I know the
links used to work)
Also, trying to find out about the Root Certicate Update for IE7 , I have
found that the links in the update history section do not work either , is
there a way to fix this ?...

Norton Internet Security icon in IE7 Command / toolbar section
I sometimes see a NIS icon appear in the top left hand part of the screen
when in Internet Explorer, what triggers the icon to appear? ( I can see NIS
in the add-on list as a toolbar). Can I activate the toolbar myself or does
it have to be triggered by the NIS software ?...

How many files in one folder ?
Hi,
I am about to finish my digitalisation project and have put all my CD's in
mp3 format. For the moment all MP3's have been stored in one folder. There
about 22000 MP3 files. This is roughly 140 Gig.
Now my system is getting really slow. If I open the MP3 folder, to move one
of the files, it takes ages before the file can be selected. The MP3's are
all on my internal drive (500 Gig). ...

xp updates from microsoft update site
Hi
I run several machines on my home network and they sometimes download the
same files from windows update site.
Is there anyway to do this so that I only have to download the file once and
point the other computers on the network to that file.
For example, i have 3 machines downloading a 432 meg service pack for visual
studio at the moment.

Auto Standby and Auto Hibernate
I have HP Pavilion m400y with Windows Xp Prof. I have tried several things
using Power Scheme in control panel, but my computer does not go in stanby or

I have just started getting a message when I forwarded a error message to
Microsoft.
' This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this
action. Create a association in Folder Option Control Panel '
I do do not know where to start to correct this. I would be grateful for a

files in windows installer folder
Hi
I have a large number of files that are in the windows\installer folder.
Most have msp extension.
Can I move these files to an external storage device or is this likely to
cause some trouble for my xp system?
an example is the file 3216a71.msp.

New here, so I apologize if I am not speaking tech very clearly. It must be

Disappearing language icon in toolbar
That's the first symptom but the problem is really deeper
than that. During Start-Up, Symantec's program CCapp does
a zillion things and takes too darn long to finish. Sometimes
it never finishes, and it's a big CPU hog, and the symptom
that it may never finish, is that the 'EN' in my
toolbar, signifying ENglish keyboard, just doesn't appear.

I can not open downloaded file
I have been trying to open a dowloaded file. When I tried to doubleclicking
the screen started flashing. I had to other option to restart the computer. I
found it was a zipped file so loaded down a winzip file. When I tried to
unzip the file I found the system did not recognise the file. It is a pgn

OS install
When you have a system with SATA hard drives, can you install the OS on any
of those drives or does it have to be on a specific drive, such as the first
one? The reason I ask is because on systems with IDE drives, the OS have to
be installed on the drive that is connected to the primary/master.

inserting pictures into powerpoint
Hi,
I successfully inserted a picture (jpeg) file into a word and powerpoint
slide using my notebook. However, when I tried doing the same thing using my
PC (Powerpoint 2002), nothing was inserted. Could there be some limits to
the filesize? My pictures are 800KB to 1.2MB in size.
Would appreciate help from some experts.
