I have been getting a load of add popups all of a sudden. I downloaded
Microsoft Defender and I cannot find it in order to run it. Any idea where

Subfolder views
I am trying to make all subfolders in My Pictures the same as the main
folder.
I know Xp used to have that option, but it seems to be missing now.
MVP Keith had a script to do the job, according to the conversation below.
However, the link requires some sort of permission to open.
Is there a current script available to everybody for this function?

Repairing Outlook Express using the Windows XP Recovery CD
Repaing Outlook Express using the Windows XP Recovery CD?
Is this possible? I am used to repairing or reinstalling IE and OE using
add and remove, add wndows components and having my xp cd in the drive. but
didn't know if it could be done using the recovery cd..I have a friend who
doesn't have the cd.. and the only thing she has is the recovery cd. Any

Registry Back Up and Restore?
Hi:
I have a question about Registry back up and restore that hopefully
someone can give me a reliable answer.
If you do a complete Export of your Registry and save it to your Desktop
and then do an application update that causes problems can you Import it
back and it will do away with all the Registry entries created by the App
update?

Administrator
Can I delete the original "Administrator" user and just keep "Mine" with
administrator rights with no problem, or should I get rid of "Mine" and
rename the administrator? I am the only user of this computer and I don't see
the need to have 2 users if I am the sole user....

Office 2003 error in limited accounts...stdole32.tlb
I'm running Windows XP Home with one Admin account and two Limited accounts.
I've had Office 2003 Professional installed for years with no problems. I

Cant get to Safe Mode
Recently - we had a storm that surged thru the VGA card and destroyed the
motherboard. anyway, another motherboard was installed - and of course it

Delete alterations history
I have Office 2003 running on XP (SP3). I want to delete the alterations
information from a Word document before sending it out. I downloaded the
Office 2003 / XP Add-In Remove Hidden Data, but I can't get it to work.
It shows as an add-in under Tools | Add-Ins and I have adjusted the

Cleaning up XP
After 3 years of using, my XP is loaded with junks, and my PC is
running very slow.
Time for spring cleaning !
Checking through the XP directories, especially those under "Documents
and Settings" and "Windows" and "Program Files", there are indeed a

bug in XP cmd shell
in the cmd shell help (from cmd shell do set /?), it gives the example

Hi:
I have not encountered any computer operational problems related to
"jscript.dll" until I tried to run Panda Anti-Rootkit ver 1.08.00 scan
tonight.
In the Windows Registry component of the scan it stops at 17% and says

Windows Installer Caught in Loop
I am not sure if this is related to Logitech Quick Cam installation but when
I complete the installation a Windows Installer window pops open looking for
a file called hips_cc.msi and it cannot locate it. I've searched the hard
drive myself - I don't think it exists. I've run anti-virus scans, etc. and

Windows Defragmenter Will Not Complete

I have tried my best to find the reason that Windows Defrag will not run

Two user data folders holding different data
Hi,
Under "my desktop" I have a "My Documents" folder
And under "My computer" I have a "username's documents" folder
Normally they are just aliases but in this case they hold different
data.
I wouldnt mind, but some applications store files in one folder and
some in the other making it a nusiance to hunt stuff down.
I think the problem may be caused by using 'tweak UI' to move 'My
documents...

Copied Microsoft Download Web Page into Desktop Picture
While trying to make a Desktop short cut to MS Download page I paste the Web
page itself into the Desktop. It must be corrupted. Thier is no Window frame

Cause Windows XP to remember a password
I take advantage of the remember password of Windows quite regularly. I
recently entered a new site with a new username and temporary password.
Windows asked if I wanted to remember the password. Since it was temporary, I
said no. Now that I have the permanent password, how can I get windows to

Briefcase icon
I have lost my icon on the desktop that indicates the briefcase. It somehow
got replaced with a generic looking icon of some sort. This generic looking
icon, does however, open up the briefcase with all files in place. I have
done a search on my computer to look for the icon, searching all folders and

Encrypt Decrypt missing from context menu

A slight panic just came over me. I have encrypted files, you know SD_ etc
and the context menu does not display 'decrypt' anymore.
