About XPs registry
In all fairness to the readers here, it's probably a good time now to
make some points about the use of registry cleaners that seem to have
become buried in the details of a flame war induced the the naysayers
who say to never, ever use a registry cleaner and promise the readers
that it WILL, not might, create problems for them.
ANY application will, over time, create some sort of a pr...

M.V.P. Rules and Regulations rewritten?
lol, NOW I know where the other MVPs must be listed! This was just too
funny to resist posting. Sorry, I can't give you the URL; others say
that would be spamming and I must not spam.
It is funny, though. And you can find it easily with Google; I just
checked. I apologize in advance because I know it'll really irk a few
of you, but ... the rest of you enjoy:

Desktop, Taskbar and Start Button
No matter which side of the desktop I move my taskbar to it stays sideways so
everything reads bottom to top instead of side to side and the icons are
sideways also. I have two games that open up from top to bottom but
everything else is side to side. It happened yesterday when my son quit his
game (NEXXON Maplestory) so I looked up a few things like dragging the
taskbar, start in safemo...

files open slowly
I have two computers with Windows XP Home and Professional connected via
router in a network. Everything seems all right when both of them are in
some work. But if one of them is switched off or hibernated it takes about
30 seconds or even more to open a file on the working computer. There is no
difference on type of the file or if I use a mouse or don't. If anybody has
a clue to the problem ...

Reliability of files copied via Windows Explorer
I plan to copy about 20 1GB files (occasionally) from a Windows XP
laptop to a Windows XP desktop using Windows Explorer across a
wireless network (802.11g)
Is there a possibility that the files could get corrupted during
transfer?
Is there anything in Windows Explorer (a protocol maybe?) that ensures
that the files do not get corrupted during the transfer?
An alternative would be for me ...

More on Registry Cleaners
This post is presented to show the errors of the closed minded who are
saying that all registry cleaners are snake oil, never do anything
useful, and/or should never under any circumstance be used. In defense
of such misinformation, I give you the following enlightenment:

4 Myths of Registry Cleaning
Since there seems to be a healthy interest in the registry lately, I
though I'd offer this partial from a white paper I have. It's not new,
but it's still accurate and well worded, IMO. Applicable to all windows
except not sure of Vista or version 7 & 8, which seem to be just more
Vista.
