How to delete a stubborn file?
I have Win XP Home SP3. In one of the folders I'd like to delete, there is a
..png file, which, I suppose is corrupted: I cannot open it, rename or
delete. I rebooted in the Safe mode, tried to take ownership of this file to
no avail... It sits there unmovable.
Is there a way to delete a stubborn file that would not move?
Any suggestion is appreciated.

Ram upgrade?
I am trying to upgrade my ram in my laptop. I got a 1 gig stick per
manufacture recomendations. I installed it per requirements and windows wont
boot after it installed it, but i put the old one in it works fine? Any
sugestions? am i missing a file??...

Volume Icon
I cannot get the volume icon to STAY on the task bar; I can get it to go
there each time I log on; I know how to "apply" once I ask it to go to the

Can't open files by double click
I came across and used a utility that was called something like "Windows
Installer Clean-up". I guess i shouldn't have because now I can no longer
open files by double clicking them in Windows Explorer. If I try to assign a
program to a file type I get the message that "This action is only valid for
programs that are currently installed". The programs ARE there. Any help is

Copying files that are "in use"
I want to copy my files from the c: drive to my external drive. after copying
4 or 5 files, I get an error: cannot copy file... file in use. Is there a way
I can override this to allow copying files in use? Thought this would be

WMP 11 - Simply Cannot Play DVD
I put in a DVD and follow the VERY simple Instructions I found on the
Internet - Nothing. I have WMP 11 open and the DVD loaded and it is spinning.

Running Win XP (home). Have USB hard drive.
When the auto drive is plugged back in, power on USB hard drive, I get an

can't uninstall WSindows Defender
Hi' All,
I have been trying to uninstall Windows Defender, it's gone from add/remove
and from Program Files but it won't go from the registry. I've tried
everything I think, even safe mode nothing works. I was able to get rid of
it from my laptop but not from the desktop. Any help appreciated.

Using Windows XP SP3. Recently on every boot up process I receive the
following message -- "F1 key to continue; F2 to run setup utility". Pressing

Please assist me with my mouse issue
I just installed Windows XP SP3 for some odd reason my mouse does not work.
I am using a "Fatal1ty" mouse and I have installed the drivers and still not
working.

Windows XP - Defrag utility
My hard drive's before & after defragmenting pictures looks the same - which
is terribly fragmented, with lots of red & green files and lots of white
spaces between the blue & other files.
What can I do to fully defrag the drive with the Windows' defragger? If
that is not possible, is there a third party defragger which will do a
better job?
