Recording
Does anyone know if there is a way to record what is playing thru my computer
speakers regardless of input? For example, someone sends you a link in an
email to an audio/video file but you can't save the file. In this case, if
the web site moves the file or whatever to the link, you can't return to it
anymore. If you could play it and record it, the link would become a
non-player.

Folder in WMP11/Vista Won't Delete
A folder with 1 file showed up in Other. I deleted the file but under Other,
there is still an stock icon showing Unknown as the album, 1 song, 0 seconds.
I have deleted every option mentioned and it won't go away. Hardly a big
deal, but I would like to delete it if anyone knows what's going on. Thanks!...

Dvd Image Problem. Urgent
I'm a commercial producer and i am in quite a jam... I just bought the
gateway gt5676 and i tried putting in a dvd of a newly filmed set. the audio
worked but the image looked like blotches of random colors of the rainbow...
i need help and i need it fast! please reply soon.

Conversion between various video & audio formats
Could anyone advise me a good software to do conversion between any video &
audio formats?
I have used "Total viedo convertor" to convert a .wma file into various
viedo formats (.mpg, .flv, .avi), but none of them can be posted to Facebook
or Youtube (the latter 3 viedo formats should be acceptable to Facebook &

problem burning entire track
I have WMP 11 and have ripped an MP3 audio CD to my library. When I burn a
track to a CD, it does not burn the entire track. Sometimes seconds are cut
off, sometimes a minute or more. I have an 80 min. disc and the track I am
trying to record is only 28 min and it still cuts off. What am I not doing
right? I have looked everywhere for an answer. Can someone enlighten me.

cant play dcd
Have a dvd rw installed and also had installed the Nero 7 that came with the
drive. When I try to play a dvd drama, it say " Window Media Player cannot

On Windows Server 2008, when I try and play a .wav file, I get the following
error:

I am using a Windows 2008 server, when I try to play a .wav file, I get an
error which takes me to a webpage that says that I need DSP Group True Speech
(22).

Sony CD/DVD PLAYER Model # DVP-NS57P
Windows Media Player (NOT VISTA)
SONY DVD/CD Rewritable Drive Model # DRX-840U
The Problem:
I want to Copy a family movie from WMP to a DVR-?
I then want to play it in the SONY Player
When I do this the Player screen says NO AUDIO/NO DATA ( I can play the CD
on my Computer, but not on the player)

Media Player 11 won't let monitoe shut-off?
Windows Vista HP SP1 on Gateway desktop. I am asking in this newsgroup
because for some reason I am unable to post a question in the Vista group. I
access via Web interface. Anyways, my monitor won't sleep when WMP 11 is
streaming internet radio and it also did not allow the computer to sleep

Media Player - Ripping CDs
I am trying to rip a box set of cds - four in total - into my library. After
the first one is ripped when I do the second it overwrites the first one. All
the Cds seem to be called by the same name whan they are inserted. I tried
naming all the tracks and composers on the first one and then ripping the

Weird behavior - .AVI files - WMP in IE
I perform pipeline video inspections and archive them to
DVD with a web page containing info on the job and a
link to play the video.
When the files were MPEG1 (.MPG extension), IE6
would stream the clip from the DVD, which is what I want.
My hardware changed recently, and my clips are now
in MPEG4, with an .AVI extension.

Sonic Cineplayer
Sonic Cineplayer keeps trying to start when I open Windows Media. I dont
have Sonic and it keeps asking me for disk 1 or to locate the file. I dont
want Sonic and I'm not sure why Windows Media keeps asking for it when I

either gets stuck or gives me an error message.

WMP 11 Database and File Corruption
I ripped over 700 CD into WMP 11 and at first everything looked great. I
finally had my entire CD collection on the hard drive. A few days later, I
noticed that my entire collection was totally corrupted. WMP11 randomly
created folders from other existing artists within other artists and it

converting audio files "on the fly"
Question from an absolute newbie!
Hello, is it possible to convert a file just before streaming it?
For example: I have ALAW-Files which are saved on the streaming server. The
user gets a link like mms://bla-bla.com/bla-bla.wma. Is it possible that
after hitting the link the correspondending ALAW file will be automatically
converted to WMA and streamed to the user? Do I need special codecs...

WMP11 Scrambled pictures - HELP!!
I am having a problem with WMP-11 scrambling my pictures. The program shows
the thumbnails fine but when I click to show full screen or play a slideshow
they are all scrambled with vertical and horizontal lines. Each scrambled
picture has its own "look" so it appears that the program just doesn't know
how to display the files....but these are JPG files and everything plays

What is the proper way to update a remote library in WMP11?
This problem is quite consistent on my set up.
Media Host machine is WinXPSP3, large HDD with wma lossless music, avi from
my diigital still camera, and hd wmv files downloaded from the internet.
WMP11 is setup to share its content. This machine is powered on and off
everyday.
Media Client machine is Vista Ultimate w/ SP1 set up to share content from

Media Player features all gone, everything denoted with --
I have Vista and Media Player 11 on recently purchased computer
One day everything was working fine and then it lost all of its features
I can still play movies and music
Instead of displaying 'Now Playing' or 'Library' it displays '--'
and I can't get to my library or Rip or Burn or Sync ect.
