vista won't retain folder location
Running Vista 32 and although " remember each folders view setting " is
checked in Folder Options / view each folder seems to revert to the default
view - re-arranging icons and view size and locaiton. I've searched google
and tried a lot of fixes unsuccessfully. IIRC XP had the same issue. Any
thoughts ?

Vista 64 Bit Ultimate issue
I have had Vista 64 Uultimate installed now for over 6 months and all was
great loaded really fast on boot up and also Programs loaded fast. Now in the
last 3 weeks it has gotten slower.
What can I do / check to put it back to how it was?

Vista not displaying Windows Experience Index
I just installed a new Video card (EVGA GeForce 9500 GT (1Gb DDR2), and I
wanted to see how that affected my Windows Experience Index, but when I open
the tool for that from Control Panel -> Performance Information and Tools,

Vista Black screen, only mouse at startup. Need to un/reinstall graphics driver
I've been searching the web for a solution for a while now, and although
it seems to be a somewhat common problem none of the solutions work for
me.
So basically I was installing new grahpics drivers from the nvidia
homepage, when the screen suddenly makes like a flicker thingy and then

DfrgNtfs.exe takes up 100% (core) usage
Windows Vista is scheduled to run a defrag at 1 AM. i came home this evening
to find my machine running very slowly, and Process Explorer's notification
area icon showing continuious 50% CPU usage. It was DfrgNtfs.exe, and this
hasn't been the first time.
It's not doing any I/O. (Process Monitor, Process Explorer and Resouce

Hard disk running constantly
I have Vista Business installed and have changed various things to have Vista
start and close quicker. It takes approx. 2½ minutes from I start my machine
until Vista is fully loaded. But after that the hard drive is running
constantly, which means it takes a long time to execute e.g. Excel. Can
someone tell me what I can do about that?...

Screensaver does not start
I don't search and search all over but still can not find any help, I

Delete slow
When I right click a file to delete, it takes 20 seconds for the box to open

system backup on external hard drive
I have a 160 gb western digital external hard drive with a backup of
about 55 GB of the same OS that i am running now (ultimate x64). but
when i go to the backup and restore center, it does not detect the

Vista Backup problem: Looking for backup devices
Hello there,
I've created a Windows Complete PC Backup of my new laptop. Now a few days
later I want to actualize it, but when click on Back up computer in Backup
and Restore Center a window opens with message - Looking for backup devices
and it stays like that, nothing happens. I can cancel it but I want to
create a backup.

Windows update/system restore points
I installed a Windows update on Monday--the laptop was running
beautifully before then, not so much now. It randomly freezes up and I
can't apparently uninstall the update.
Also, it's not creating or keeping restore points. I just found out a
registry cleaner is bad, so I won't be doing that again, but how on
earth do I figure out what is causing the problem? :cry:

Vista hang at boot
Hi,
I recently built myself a PC and installed Vista on it. Everything
worked fine. Then i ended up doing a full re-format and re-install. Ever
since then Vista has been hanging at boot.
Before the loading bar would come and go and then the vista symbol
would pop up make the boot noise and i could log in, this all took under
30 seconds.

vista not displaying problem and reports control panel
Anyone help as I do not want to do a full re-install if I dont need to.
When using my main/admin account, I cannot display the problem and
reports control panel (wercon.exe). The UAC panel comes up, after
pressing continue, nothing happens. If I use another account on the
laptop then it does displays it.

Scheduler
I am helping my brother out with his Vista 32. I don;t like it. Anyway I
scheduled a basic tgask to run a batch file. It was named BACKUP. There
is an error and I wanted to delete the task until I figured out how to
fix the error. I cannot find the task anywhere in the task library.
Shoudn't it be there as Backup.
Help?

power options notebook
I am not seeing any notifications when power is down on my laptop, I
have configured group policies and perhaps these are not set right.
The machine goes into hibernation when totally exhausted all batteries.
This happens as planned via the group policy settings.
I am confused about my first point. I have set the Notification

disk cleanup problem

Question about video hardware memory usage
I was under the impression that adding video adapters with more memory would
reduce the amount of ram available for the OS because the video ram would
need more of the 4 gig address space of Vista x86. But I read recently that
because video adapters have their own memory controllers to address their
ram the memory footprint in the OS is much less then the amount on the video

cpu fan roaring up fast and furious
I'm another one of those joyous persons who have a cpu fan hike, not in
price, but just spinning up so fast, I fear this laptop is about to roar
into orbit.
This problem developed this past weekend for no apparent reason,
although there obviously has to be one.
I believe it to be software related, but for the life of me (or for the
laptop of me) cannot narrow it down to what the culprit it.
