Windows Easy Transfer problem
I have a old pc with xp home sp2 and a new notebook with vista basic .
I tried to use easy transfer by network but I got a error message " Two pc's
language are
not compatible and the transmission can't be initiated " after inputting
the key .
My two computers are setted to same location and language . I don't know
why this problem happened ?

New User Wanting to Install More RAM
I have never done much maintenance work on my computer. I bought it last
year and have had very few problems with it, but i would like better
performance out of it in the gaming area.
I only have 1gig of ram installed and am using windows Vista Home
Basic.
I have been told that this is not enough RAM and i can tell it by the
way the computer acts.
So i want to upgrade ram with at least 1 more g...

Can't open or save files
I'm not sure exactly at what point this started (if it was after installing
software or if it just happened on its own for some reason), but other than
using Windows Explorer, I cannot open or save a file.
If I am in Word or Photoshop or any other program, as soon as I attempt to
open or save something, the window comes up which should let me choose the
folder I want to open something fro...

Computer restarts after returning from sleep mode
Hi, I have this problem with sleep mode. I am using Windows Vista Home
Premium SP1.
First, I put the computer in sleep mode manually by going to start and then
clicking on sleep button. After a few hours, I come back and wake it up by
clicking my mouse or pressing a key on my keyboard. It wakes up and my

Crash Dumps like crazy!
Well, I am having some VERY annoying issues with this computer,
seemingly for no reason. It was running fine but lately I've been
getting hit with Crash Dump after Crash Dump. Usually it's when I'm
watching TV on my tuner card, playing a game, or using Windows Media
Player .. so I thought it was an issue with my Video Card ... however it

Desktop Issue
Sorry to sound ignorant, but I don't know much about computers. A few

I use Web Interface.
Spoofer crossposts through Newsreader; Web Interface can't.

200 - Slow Shutdowns - 4 events

Issues with Windows Explorer
I have several issues with Vista and will start with these.
1) When dumping a directory/file to the recycle bin, the recycling 1
item box will come up and not go away. I end up having to go to the
task manager and close it that way. I can hit stop or the "X" to close
the box and it just changes to the "canceling" box and doesn't close it.
This also happens when you move files from one direc...

I have Vista, have had for about a year and had not had ay issues with the
sleep function, until now.
I used to be able to click on the sleep tab and the computer monitor would
go blank and the computer would sleep. To use the computer again, I would
just need to click any key on the keyboard/move the mouse and hey presto,

AVI Thumbs
Hello,
My Windows Vista OS is not showing the thumbs for AVI files what are watched
through WMP11 with DivX codecs.
Until this morning everything was fine, now I can't see the live thumbs for
AVI files.

Event Viewer System Log Error 13
Every now and then, when I try to consult the event log ('System') in
Windows Vista Home Premium, I get the following messages: 'cannot open
the event log or custom view', 'data is invalid (13)' , 'Verify that
the Event Log service is running'.

Windows Experience Index of 4.1
I have recently added an extra 1gb of RAM to make my total RAM up to
3gb. However, the Windows Experience Index score for RAM stayed at 4.1.
Is there any reason for this or is it just Vista being stupid again?

No sounds on Vista.
Sounds are turned on in Vista yet they don't play. What setting could I
have missed and what can cause sounds to stop playing? The speakers work
fine. All connections are secure. The little speaker icon is also missing
from the taskbar.
How can I get that back? TIA.......

shadow copie, AGAIN.
so i decided to reformat last night........
didnt have this problem on very first boot.
missing 45~ gb of disk space.
found the shadow copy threads
then i followed

How can i start Explorer in specific location ?
Hi,
When i start my explorer (in Vista Ultimate), it starts in
C:\Users\user\Appdata\Roaming\Microsoft\windows\programs ...
Is there any way i can change that to: C:\ ?
I tryed making a shortcut on my desktop and change the path to C:\ ,
but then it still starts in ...\documents .
I really would like it to start in the root of C:

MATLAB not working with vista ?

Memory Diagnostic Tool
I just spent an hour or more trying to run the Memory Diagnostic test
with no luck at all. I even dug out the OS disc and could not get the
option to run the memory test. When I did it per the article I had read
I continued to get a black screen saying the "Selected entry was not
located because the application is missing or corrupt.
Is this tool not included with Vista Home Premium by default...

Driver Preventing Start-up
The system "lost" its sound card driver (Realtek). Upon re0installing
the standard driver available on the system, the "blue screen" shut it
down. Now it will not start-up at all due to a "driver" problem and the
auto-fix cen not correct it. So, short of re-installing the operating
system, what can be done? Computer is an Acer lap-top about 2 years
old.
