[Problem] Windows Vista Remote Desktop NON-English user swich lang
Hi,
I'm currently testing Windows Vista Ultimate in my firm for a month now. It
works great, I love it. However, there's one big problem with our Windows
Server 2003 to work with Remote Desktop in Windows Vista. Since, we are a
non-English user, we need to switch back and forth between English and out

Hosts file is being ignored.
I've always used the hosts file to map local machines in our private ip
network behind the firewall for web browser connectivity. My new Vista
business appears to be ignoring its hosts file. Using ipconfig to /flushdns
and then /displaydns should show the contents of the hosts file and it does
not except for the default localhost. I even changed the localhost ip in the
hosts file to some...

Connecting to printer issues
I have Vista on the laptop, and XP home on the PC. The printer is on the PC.
I can see all my files from pc to lappy, and lappy to PC. I can see my
printer, made sure its set to sharing, made sure its set to default, yet I
can't print from the lappy to the printer.
I've done troubleshooters and one said to install the printer drivers but

Vista Laptop Can't Connect to Internet via Ethernet, WiFi, or Mode
Hello, I recently upgraded my laptop to Vista HP, and I haven't been able to
reach the Internet since. Have tried (Ethernet to Linksys WRT54G v4 router),

Accidently Denied connection with Playstation 3
My desktop found the connection to my PS3 but it was named something crazy so
I denied access b/c I wasn't trying to connect it then anyway. Now that I am
trying to connect it, I can't seem to find the options to reset that

lost gateway and fix
Hi, I have checked the forum and losing the gateway seems like a lot of
people have had
the same problem on VISTA. I have found what I believe is the hotfix, but
pray tell, how does one download load it if one cannot get on the internet?

Sharing again XP Vista
My vista machine cannot see xp SP2 and same other way. I have installed all
MS KB's lltd etc I have no forewall enabled. I am in the same workgrou mshome
and have set all the settings in network and sharing as per microsoft yet no
luck.
Any ideas would be gratly appreciated...

connecting my vista computer to a xp client comes up with error
"a device attached to the system is not functioning" always shows when i try
to connect to the hard drive across a network from a vista computer.
so when i trype run: \\computername\c$ which always works from xp to xp it
will not work from vista computer
the vista is ultimate x64 bit and is workgrouped. netwrok discovery etc is
on. the xp computers can however access my hard drive.

Logging onto Windows 2003 server with Vista
I have a problem - when logging into a windows 2003 Server using Remote

Domain Log on and file access
I am trying to access files that are log-on specific. I am logging onto the
domain with the specific user account with a laptop connect to the network
via LAN cable. I can access all common files but cannot access the files on

Can not connect wireless G adapter
Afer installing Vista, I cannot connect through wireless-g notebook adapter
which was working with XP version. It says I have the correct driver, but now
am getting a Problem Code 12, not enough resources available, try to enable
something. I've contacted HP with no avail, and troubleshooting has no answer
except that the driver is ok and certified by Vista. Like I said, it worked

Can only access Public Files on Vista computer from XP computer
When I attempt to access the C: drive on my Vista machine, from my XP
machine, I get an "Access Denied" message which further explains, "You
may not have permission to use this network resource."
I CAN access the Public folder on my Vista machine from the XP
machine, however.
How can i provide for full access?

Please tell me how to network!
There was two Xp computers in my house, which were rather easy to network in
order to share files and a printer, but it doesn't seem to be so easy, now
that I've upgraded my lap top to Windows Vista Home Premium. Can someone

Network Discovery issue
setting up a newly wiped dell inspiron...vista ultimate is installed...when
trying to enable network discovery, the oddest thing happens - i choose "on",
then hit "apply" at which point i'm prompted for permission - click

Cannot resolve DNS on domain?
Hi, I just upgraded one of my computers to Windows Vista. I currently have a
domain setup in the basement, and have two other Vista-based computers
running off the domain, but this one just doesn't seem to want to connect.

Printer Sharing
I wanted my 2 HP Laptops running on Windows Vista to print using a shared
printer from my HP Desktop running on Windows Vista. The Printer Sharing is
ON (password required) on my desktop and the printer is already shared.

Finding a network w/ Vista
I've spent way to much time trying to find this answer......We have two
offices.....each has a domain.....in XP when you mapped network drives the
other office showed up and I had access to their server to map
drives......now w/ Vista I can't figure out how to connect to the other
office's server......It doesn't show up in the list of computers like it does

Availability of servers inconsistent
My network has 2 servers, one with a drive named L: and one with a drive
named W:. At times both are available, at times only one, and sometimes

Vista & XP Macines on Netwrok
I have a network at home. It has been working fine with all computers. I
added this new Vista machine. It sees all the machines including the
wireless laptop. All the hardwired units see the vista machine. The
wireless laptop does not see the Vista machine but sees all the other XP
machines. Disabled all firewalls, on vista machine with no change. Help!!!

Wireless networking
I am trying to connect to my wireless network at home. I know the WEO key,
but it is 256 bit. I can only enter a 64 or 128 bit key in Windows Vista.
Does anyone know if its possible to change the key length? I've looked
through the driver properties and can't find anything related....

Vista XP Networking... again
I have a Dell desktop wired to my linksys router, and I recently purchased a

Computer screen locks up when trying to set file sharing
Whenever I go to the File Sharing folder on Window's Vista Ultimate and try
to mark a folder shared, the file sharing folder screen locks up. Anyone know
how to fix this problem? The computer is only a few days old....

Can't force remote shutdown/restart from RDP session
Can't force remote shutdown/restart from RDP session
I cannot force Vista on my home machine to restart from a remote RDP
session. I've checked to make sure Administrators have remote
shutdown privilege but there's no option to restart or shutdown
available either from the start menu or from Taskmanager.
How can I fix this???
