Can Remote Desktop trigger a VPN connection or must I do that manually first?
I connect into a corporate PPTP VPN via RD, and right now it's a little cumbersome since I have to establish the VPN connection and then launch RD. Is there a way to configure RD so that it knows it needs the VPN connection first and so launches the VPN connectoid itself, waits for the connection, and then establishes the RD? Sort of like in the old days, where you'd run a Winsock app ...

File and Print Sharing (mostly) work, Just not HP printer
I just got a new Vista 64 system. I connected my Canon, HP printers via USB cable to the Vista machine. Other machines on my network are XP. I want the XP systems to remotely use the printers. File shares work. Canon works. Just not the HP. I have seen "how to do this" for a vista client and the printer on an XP -- but not the other way around. ...

how to use paths to networked computers
History on my question: A couple of months ago, my workgroup name used for many years (let's call it ABC) stopped working. I could access my networked computers by using their paths \\mylaptop\downloads but not their network name. I rebooted but it did not help. So I changed the workgroup name to ABC2 and it worked for 2 months up to today at 4 PM, when workgroup names were last used to s...

Ahoy! My company provides free wireless internet for clients on-site, but we cannot seem to get an Acer computer with Vista Home Premium 32bit connected. There is no encryption for the connection, only a 9-letter password. Vista has not prompted for a passoword, only for a Network Security key, which can only be 5 or 13 characters.
