Please help or explain etc
I Have a portable hard drive that I hook to my Satalite box and record.
I want to take those recordings,which are trp files. What are the
stepsto record using windows dvd maker. I have read until I am blue in
the face. I converted the trp files to mpg and put the file in DVD maker
, recorded and the audio is 3-5 seconds slower than video. Any
suggestions?

Media Player 11 - doesn't open window when running movie file
Hi
Got an annoying problem with Media Player 11 on Home Premium edition. If I
open a movie file from its folder location (double click) I get sound but no
window opens up.
If I then go to the start menu and open Media Player I then get video
playback as well.
If I already have Media Player running on the screen when I open the file
it's not an issue....

Stero mixer problem
Hi there,
Iv got windows vista on a toshiba A200 -1V0 model. When i go to my
recording tab and right click to get the show disabled devices on.
nothing comes up. i have'nt got stereo mix. my driver is up 2 date
according to windows update and everything else is fine. do i need to
buy a new sound card or is there a problem with REALTEK or vista . can
anyone help me pls?

WMM...change background
can someone tell me how to change the color of the background if I
display a picture? The default is black. Also, what size should picture
set to so there is no boarder at all?

Black parts in WMM-project
After working for hours with my WMM-project, importing both music, pictures
and small video files, using different effects and transitions, and text
boxes, I was very disapointed when trying to play it back..All my pictures
were black, but the videos and music were OK. I have understood that this
maybe is caused by too many different "things at the same time", and that WMM
doesn't handle...

Correction to No sound with DVD playback
I have several DVD's that all play fine with Windows XP. When I play them
on my Vista Machine some play perfectly, but with others the video plays
perfectly but there is absolutely no sound. Even with the volume set to max
in Windows , Windows Media Player, or Windows Media Center.
Does anyone have a solution?

Strange Pixelation in Windows Photo Gallery "Classic" Mode
I use the "Classic" mode in order to get the full resolution available from
my monitor when viewing slideshows in Vista. However, whenever I use this
mode and for every picture, the bottom 5% or so of the image is strangely

Vista x64 and Firewire for MiniDV video transfer
I just ordered an ADAPTEC 5 Port 1394 & USB IEEE FIREWIRE COMBO PCI CARD and
it states to work under Windows 98SE/ME/NT/2000/XP/Vista and Mac OS.
On the other hand, I read on some forums that Vista *dropped* Firewire and
no cards will work...
Can I expect the card to work or not, also considering that my Vista (Home
Premium) version is a 64bit OS ?

WLPG vs. WPG Thumbs?
I have a camera that takes videos in H.264 .MOV format. This format is
supported by Windows Live Photo Gallery (as long as Quicktime is installed),
but NOT supported by Windows Photo Gallery. I keep my photos and videos on
a shared folder (a server that all our computers can access).
When I access a folder with WLPG, it updates the thumbs properly. When I

AVI Codecs that worked for me
Having got a screen capture (video recorder) program and recording video with
it I found the recorded AVI file would not play on Vista WMP11, the sound was
great but no picture. So I tried the same avi file on XP and it showed the
video and played the sound perfectly. As did Nero's showtime on Vista. So I
was then forced to investigate and came to the correct diagnosis of Video

Slider/Seeker in Vista (64) Media Center ??
Is there a seek bar in the Vista 64bit Media Center. I can't seem to
skip forward and backwards in Media Center as easily as I can with
Window Media Player 11, I have to friggin spam click forward and rewind
to change where the video is. It's really annoying, if there is a way to
enable a seek bar it would be very useful as I prefer WMC over Media
Player for videos.

Mass Change Genre
Hi,
In Windows MEdia Player 9, i was able to highlight a group of songs, and
drag them to the 'Rap' category under Genre in the left frame and it would
change the Genre on all those files. How do i accomplish this in Windows
Media Player 11?

m4a files & Tag info in Colums
Tag information in .m4a audio files doesn't show up. I have m4a files which
are tagged but nothing shows in the colums when I am browsing.
What do I need to do to get things like bit rate, artist, title etc. to show
in the collums?
I am running Windows Vista Home Premium SP1....

Missing Thumbnails
Instead of the customary thumbnails in my Pictures directory I have icons
of a photo frame and a portrait of 2 people down below. How do I get my

Movie Maker preview shows solid green screen
Copied here because someone suggested I had it in the wrong newsgroup ...
Using Vista Ultimate SP1. I add a same video to the timeline but
when I try to play it in the preview, all I get is a solid green frame. I
can hear the sound playing and can split the video at random but can't see
anything. Any ideas on what to try?...

Media player stops working
Just recently when I start media player I get the media player has stopped

Movie Maker crashes when dropping imported DVR-MS file on timeline
Copied here because someone suggested I had this in the wrong newsgroup ...
I've done this before with no problem but now it does not work. I recorded a
TV show using Media Center. I open Movie Maker and import the file. It's a
3.76 GB dvr-ms file. I can play the file in the preview with no problems.

dvd flick & rm files
Hello,
I recently asked here for help & advice on how to copy downloaded movie
files to a dvd, and was recommended DvdFlick.
I've downloaded it & it works fine, thanks, but...
I cannot copy realmedia files. The 'add files' button does allow *.rm files,
but I get a message saying file type unsupported ???
What am I doing wrong ??

Windows Media Player Aspect Ratio
Hi!
Oh yes: there a million posts that say NowPlaying->More Options->devices-
>Devices->display : Properties and CHANGE
Only the shape of the ellipse changes most obligingly.
But I want to change the aspect ration of the VIDEO.
The one that made me look for this was a Cinemascope movie showing up all
squished.
I thought it was a incorrectly made DVD (?) copied from Video...

Error Message when Playing DVD Files in Media Center
All:
In the last week or two (no major changes made to the system), I have been
getting the following error message when I attempt to play a ripped DVD TS
folder or ISO image in Windows Media Center:
"Files needed to play the video file are missing or not working correctly.
Please restart Media Center or the computer."
I can successfully play the exact same file natively in PowerDV...

Cannot burn CDs or DVDs
I am using a Dell XPS 710 running Vista Home. I can drop and drag fine to
flash memory and to an external USB back up drive. However, I cannot drop &
drag to either the CD RW drive or the DVD RW drive. I also have tried to use
Roxio 9 to burn DVDs and CDs and it says insert a blank disc. It does not
matter if I use CD or DVD-R or RW. However, I did manage to get Media player

jpg and tiff display problems
Hi,
VMC will not show jpg or tiff files stored on my WHS computer. It sees
the folders but says it can't display the files. This behavior occurs on
all 4 of my computers. I should add that Windows Live Gallery has no
problem displaying the photos. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix
this problem.

How do I get audio file format in audio filter driver?
