INstalled audio drivers but no sound from speakers
I installed Vista ulimate on a ASUS K8V-X SE motherboard with Realteck
AC97 sound chip. I downloaded the drivers from the ASUS web site and
the drivers installed no problem. The device manager shows the drivers
are active and working correctly. When I play an audio file I see the
sound bars going up and down, but there is no sound comming from the

Reformat of Vista crashing
I experienced a system crash and have since reinstalled Vista. It's a new
machine and XP was never installed. I did a format before reinstalling. I
installed the drivers for my Invidia 8800 GST and my monitor.
I set the Media Center to record a TV show and leave the machine running.
When I return, the machine has shut down and of course the show is not

Installation failed
My Vista 64 installation went like a dream, until the installer proclaimed
the installation was finished and tried to reboot. Then everything stopped
dead, and no amount of manual power-off rebooting could make Vista start.
Vista 64 came pre-installed on my new machine when it was delivered, and

Progrsm Stopped working
Every now and then I get error messages that a program has stoppped
working. This always points to the antivirus or UPS software.
However, the program is running fine. Any idea why or how to resolve

Install failed on dynamic harddisk
I have second hardisk formatted inside XP as dynamic disk type.
Now I swap the 2 disks, ie. second harddisk as primary disk and reboot the
machine with Vista DVD.
At the early stage Vista said this is a dynamic disk cannot be installed.
How do I make it non-dynamic in side XP?

Remove OEM installation of Vista, Install licensed XP Pro
I've read through many of the threads, where it appears you need to be some
sort of guru to follow the directions.
Microsoft obviously made a terrible mistake in Vista and Office 2007. As a
NOVICE type person, I need a "simple" way to install XP Pro on a new OEM
computer, where Vista was installed by the OEM. There is no "backward" file
to access.

System crashed and Vista won't reinstall
I have a new machine, nvidia 8800gst card. I made a fatal error and took my
external hard drive and attached it to my daughter's Apple so she could share
some music I had. When I returned the external drive to my machine, it

Anytime Upgrade crashes, upgrading from Vista Business to Ultimate
Hi, gang:
I'm seriously frustrated at this Windows Anytime Upgrade software, because
it can't upgrade Windows Vista from Business to Ultimate without crashing. I
do have to applaud the programmers for including a rollback option, however,
because I've used it several times.

Should I install 64-bit OS
I have recently purchased a HP nx9420 with 2G RAM. When I turned on the
computer for the fist time, it asks me to select between "English Windows
Vista Business Edition (x64)" or "English Windows Vista Business Edition".
My natural instincts are to go for the x64 .. because I presume the system

Failed Vista Install
After running the Vista Upgrade advisor and following it's suggestions. I
upgraded the hardware on my notebook, any software it said needing upgrading
and removed any software the advisor said may cause problems. Then I find
out that my note book is not completely ACPI complient during the Vista

Connecting to the internet - Wanadoo Livebox, France
i cant get my new toshiba laptop to connect to the internet. it has vista
home premium edition.
the connection shows up as wanadoo_32d4, which is correct, but when i press
"connect" i get a message telling me that window has failed to connect. when
i "diagnose the problem" i am told that windows was not able to diagnose.

Vista activation
I recently did a major upgrade to my PC, replacing almost everything. I
bought a copy of Vista Home Premium 64 OEM to go with it.

I have Windows Vista, and I want to use some programs that were made for XP
and before, but a couple of these will not work for my computer and are
saying that they are running on ME since it does not recognize Vista yet. Can

Windows explorer keeps crashing, over and over again!
I recently got windows vista after building a very fast rig that on the
rating system gets 5.9 :)
However about 20% of the times I right click and about 50% of the times I
