Weird graphics after fresh install
I just installed Vista Ultimate on a Compaq Presario. It never asked me
about any compatibility issues, just started installing. Everything seemed
to work properly until after it ran its initial 'Performance' check. After
the restart, all it does is have what appears to be ASCII characters flashing
different colors. I have to shut the computer down. When I start it back
up, I get

I Upgraded to Vista Ultimate from Win2K, I cannot activate my inst
Probably already up here but who has 2 days to read all of the posts...
I upgraded my old workstation from 2000 to Vista Ultimate when my old HDD
crashed.
I decided to skip XP altogether. Since the Win2K install was not compatible
with Vista, I was forced to do a "clean" install, there was no other option
available to me. Sounded good to me in the beginning, and everything went
fairl...

Upgrade XP to Ultimate fails in Expanding Files
I just tried to upgrade an XP installation to Ultimate and encountered an
error in the Expanding Files phase. (Also when it went into rollback mode,
that also failed and I ended up deleting the installer's temp files and
fixing the MBR by hand).
My system is an ASUS A8V mobo with AMD dual core CPU and VIA SATA RAID. I
suspect the problem could be linked to the RAID: I am running Setup f...

Restart Vista as a brand new computer
I recently bought an iPod that came with some faulty software, and apparently
it messed with my computer. I remember when I had Windows XP that you could
press F10 as it started up to reset it completely... but does anyone know how
to do that with Windows Vista?...

Can't print from Dos program within Vista?
I have an RBase application I've been using for years and I have it now
running in Vista Business but I can not get it to print no matter what I
do. I have an HP960c Inkjet printer connect by USB. I have no LPT ports.
I have tried "net use LPT1 \\wizard\HP960c /persistent:yes" where wizard
is the machine name and HP960c is the printer name. I have even shared
the printer but nothing works. Th...

Outlook 2003 Business Contact manager and Vista
Business Contact manager hangs while installing. I downloaded the SP4 for

Contact Manager needs to be installed before applying the service pack. I
can't install the BCM software so I can't fix the BCM software with the
service pack.
The installation hangs during the "installing new services" portion. Any

Date-Time Issue in Vista Ultimate
I have two PC's running Ultimate. One appears to keep good time, the other
loses the correct date and time if left turned off for a few days.
On the problem PC, I have verified that the CMOS battery is good, and that
other BIOS settings are not lost during off periods. The only difference I
can find between the two computers is that on the one that works, Internet
Time is set to time.wind...

Hearing sound through my tv
Hi
I've just bought a new computer and rather than getting a monitor etc I've
hooked it up to my existing Wharfedale LCD tv.
I have no external speakers, only the speakers built into my tv but I'm
struggling to find a way of hearing the sound from my pc. To avoid adding
extra clutter I would prefer not to buy external speakers as the speakers on
my tv are more than adequate.

Vista boot manager removal from Win98 disk
I installed Vista on a 2nd drive as a clean install (instead of custom).
Unfortunately it wrote the boot manager to my 1st drive so now I can only
boot Vista up. All I want is to remove the boot manager from the Win98 disk
so I can select which OS to boot using the BIOS. That way if I remove either
drive from the system I can still have a bootable system.
Is there a simple and safe way...
