Vista Basic Update Issues
Hello, new to the forum. I'm having some issues with upgrading to
Windows Basic on one of my old computers. I have inserted the dvd into
my dvd-rom it begins to run but then just stops. It won't bring up the
install, and when I try to explore the dvd it does nothing.
I have a Basic 32 bit dvd trying to install on a HP a347x with 512mb
ram, 340gb hd, 2.6ghz intel 4
and I am currently running XP ...

web, Microsoft, and several other newsgroups before posting here. :)
I would like to do a clean install of Vista Ultimate 64-bit without having
to purchase another upgrade and learn how I can do this. I am currently

Install BOTH 32bit and 64bit Vista on SAME machine with only 1 license??
Is it possible to purchase a 32bit version of Vista, then order the 64bit
version (I'm told this can be ordered for free, plus shipping)... Using the
same key that was given with the purchased 32bit version, you could then
install the 64bit version on the SAME PC as the 32bit version...
Is this possible?? To have both the 32bit and 64bit versions running on the
same PC with you only needin...

RAID 1 Setup /Vista Installation Hangs
I just flashed the BIOS with the latest version, then deleted the
partitions created by Acronis. I then deleted the RAID 1 setup and
recreated it. Then went through Windows Vista installation setup. Got to
the part where you choose where you want to install Windows and picked
the unformatted C: drive. This went well, then I got to phase two
(Installing Windows) again, when it hung.
I just don't ...

installing xp over vista ?
We bought a new machine with Vista on it.
However Our Engineering software will not
run on Vista and we really don't like Vista
either (too restrictive).
We would like to just install our XP cd to
the new machine but we cannot figure a way
to do it. Vista will not let me format the drive.
and the XP Cd does nothing on boot, it goes
right back to Vista.
We have not tried the partition dual...

Crash and Re-Install
I keep reading about licensing issues. I want to know if you crash your
computer, therefore, change motherboards or Harddrive.... if you can
re-install Vista 32 bit Operating System?
Is there a trick to this or can you simply re-install as you can in Windows
XP.
Thanks

Omission in Help and Support Document on Windows Vista
In the part about configuring a network printer it says, in pertinent part,
as follows:
"To connect to a network printer
After you have installed a network printer, you need to add a connection to
the printer for each computer on the network."
Actually this is not a complete description of the task at hand. You must
configure the printer for EACH USER (those desirous of a connectio...

Vista Updates
One thing about Vista it is always updating and checking, always
checking. But it seems like when I am in a hurry and want to check
something on the computer myself, this is when it wants to do it! Does
the computer have to be in hibernate for it to do automatically?
Obviously I can't have it shut-down, because that is what is going on
now. I have the timer set on 3am, I have figured that part ou...

Vista Basic (OEM Dell) to Retail Vista Ultimate upgrade
the Vista advisor says its doable, but i certainly don't want to do a fresh
install. But the upgrade is grayed out when i run setup. I can certainly see
why a novice user would just get disgusted and return the 200 + dollar
software package to the store. And no i don't have a FAT C: disk, not
booting off the vista DVD, got 360 gig free, blah blah. and the rest of the
list of possible i...

Interesting Problem.........
Hi All,
First time poster here.
I have just backed up my system drive by creating an ISO image. I have
then restored the Image onto a WD Raptor Hard Drive (runs at 10000rpm
I'll have you know!). Now, the first startup worked fine, no problems.
Loaded into the Vista desktop and was able to do what I wanted.
However, subsequent startups have allowed me to log in, but have then
had the message on...
