Strange Behavior in Window
When I click on the C: drive in My Computer the files on the drive are
imposed on the parent folder and can only be shown clearly by refreshing the
folder. What would cause this?

XP & Vista Dual Boot ---> Vista only. How?
Hello all,
I have XP and Vista in dual boot on one disk. I've been running them
both while I configured Vista with all the old apps that accumulated
on XP over the years. Now that Vista seems to be running everything
properly, I'd like to remove the XP partiiton. Specifically XP is on
the first partition, and Vista on the second.

Dual Boot Vista Ultimate and Xp Home Problem...Please Help
Hello Board !
System Info:
Windows Vista Ultimate SP3
Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU T2370 @1.73GHz 1.73 GHz.
Memory (RAM) 1.00 GB.
32-bit OS.
My Oiginal OS is Vista Ultimate SP3. I tried to dual boot with XP Home
SP3. The Xp installation process went smoothly. All the program files
and system files are there(so I thought). The Vista is in C: drive and
the XP is in E: drive, which I have created...

Windows Failed to start
Model of desktop: Acer Aspire M5640
When I start up the computer, the screen showing the Acer and Intel
logo appears for about 30 secs(usually it only appears for about 5
secs). The wireless keyboard and mouse that came with the CPU and
moniter do not seem to be working, no matter how many times I press the
connect button on them. Therefore pressing f8 or f12 would not be an
option.

easy transfer
Dose easy transfer remove the files etc. from your old cp or laptop or just
copy them?
Would I be better off just copy files etc from my old machine onto an
external hard drive then copying them onto the new laptop?

Windows Failed to start
OS: Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit Sp1

x64 fresh install problem.
I'm trying to remove Vista 32-bit and start anew with the 64-bit OS, but
when I try to boot from the dvd-rom it goes into the "Windows is now
loading files" load bar thing and when it's done it just sits at a black
screen. No error message, no working lights from the cpu or dvd drive
after the bar fills and leaves the screen.
Any ideas? All help appreciated.

Vista Home Premium 64-bit (with SP1) clean installation hangs

I have a problem with hanging clean installation. That happens when

Vista install on External Hard Drive
Hi,
I am currently running XP Pro and want to install Vista.
I have made a new partition on my _External_ Hard Drive.

Problems reading Vista 64-Bit OS installation DVD after clone copy
Ok, I have installed a copy of Vista 64-Bit OS OEM 6 months ago, but, I was
running out of disk space.
So, I did a clone copy of my original installed Vista 64-bit OS and other
installed software using "Seagate DiscWizard" from the old hard drive to the
new hard drive (250GB>500GB). Everything went fine, I now have my original

Changing Computer Name
I have upgraded to Vista from XP. I am now trying to change the computer
name but the OK button is greyed out after changing the name. I am logged in

copying install hdd
Hi. I'm not usre if I am posting this in the right section of the vista
boards or not but....
I want to upgrade my hdd that I have Vista installed on. Is it possible
to use xxcopy(or similar type software) and copy all files form my
current install hdd to the hdd I want to replace it with?
I am trying to avoid having to re-install my OS, office, games,

Setting up new User and msconfig
Hello folks -
I know how to set up another user account and to switch between users.
I want to set up an account stricktly for Flight Sim -
I need to know "IF" on this new "Flight Sim" desktop, can I go into msconfig

Windows Activation Failure
I recently upgraded my computer, only taking a few of the components from my
old one and putting in the new system. It did a number on windows and I had
to reinstall vista. Now when I'm trying to activate it's telling me that the
product key is already in use. The other computer has been sold off for
parts, what can I do to get past this that doesn't involve a new $200 piece

I whanted to get my pc a little faster and saw the performance defrag on

Hide unwanted "Available Updates"?
Vista Ultimate SP1
Is there a way to hide unwanted "Available Updates"? By this, I mean that
Windows Update continues to show available updates that I don't want (for
instance, Croatian Language Pack, and the like). Anyway of saying "no
thanks, and don't remind me again"?

installed SP1, now PC crashes on boot
Hi,
I hope someone can help me. This is the fourth time I have tried to
install SP1 on my PC (I'm running Home Premium). Previously I have got
myself out of the mess by doing a system restore, but this isn't working
for me this time. I created a restore point about 6 hours before
