hibernation group policies
Is it just my in my environment, but if settings are enabled via group
policy, and then disabled this is not reflected in the power options of
the control panel.
yet rsop will show them as applying.
Just curious....

Windows repair
My computer won't boot. I'm attempting a Windows repair from the Vista Home
Premium install disk, but at the repair which operating system screen, no
system is listed. The instructions say to load drivers for my hard drives,
but from where? I don't have driver disks for my hard drives. By the way,
when I look for drivers, all my drives, including my two IDE drives, are

Blue screen and error messages trying to install vista 64 bit
I just build a new system a few days ago with XP home for the OS. The
system is purring. I’ve been reading good things about Vista Ultimate
64bit and like the idea that I could use all 4GB of ram. Then I bought a
copy of Vista Ultimate 64bit. At first all seems to go ok during
installation, but in the last step, finishing installation just before
the first Vista session... I get a BSOD blue scree...

Vista stuck on black screen with mouse after boot progress bar
Hello,
I upgraded my Vista system drive using Seagate's DiscWizard tool to clone
my old system drive. Everything when ok. Vista was able to boot and re-boot
with no issues. After seeing that everything was fine I used the old system
drive to replace a failing drive on another system (which was the reason
I bought a new drive in the first place).
Because it was a new drive (Seagate...

Vista in Unallocated Partition
I was attempting to dual boot XP with Vista installed first on a laptop.
I used Partition Manager 9 and was trying to delete a partition. While
it was working Vista went into standby. Well, I couldn't get it out of
standby so I did a hard stop. Now the only partition that shows up is
the recovery partition. I can view the structure when I take that laptop
drive out and hook it up on my XP compute...

Dual Boot, drive letters, fully automated
Hi All,
We're using Windows XP at the moment, but have Windows Vista as well.
We use Windows Deployment Services (WDS) to image PCs across the
network.
We've not got everything working on Windows Vista yet, some people
would like to use it, yet still be able to access applications that
are currently only available on Windows XP.
Originally, we used Virtual PC 2007 on Windows Vista, an...

Home Premium -> Ultimate; Can I use the old Home Premium license?
I purchased a desktop system with Vista Home Premium 32-bit. I
purchased Vista Ultimate 32-bit full install (not upgrade) and used it
to upgrade my computer to Ultimate. So really, now my Home Premium
license isn't being used, and I don't have a CD for it. If I were to
find an installation CD, is it possible for me to install Home Premium
on another computer with the old license?

I am using the default (not the Classic) start menu.
Is there any way to hack the registry or anything to allow me to pin

How to Disable DHCP When Deploying Vista/Server 2008 Using Sysprep and Unattend.xml
Hello all,
I've run into a problem when trying to deploy either a Vista or Server 2008
syspreped image in conjunction with an Unattend.xml file. My problem is
this - the install, from start to finish, is supposed to be an unattended,
build-to-plan image. Part of the install involves assigning a static IP
address. Although I've been able to configure a static IP for the image, I
can...

Best way to keep my data while I re-install
Hey folks. I am looking to do a complete reformat and re-install of

instead of shoving it all on to DVDs. I don't have an external HDD so I
was wondering whether I can create a partition and whack it on there,
then format and re-install on to C:\. Also, I h...
