US Vista - Activate and Update in another country
Hi,
I was hoping someone could clarify something for me.
I'm living in the UK, but travel back to the US at least once a year - I was
looking at buying Vista Ultimate, and I'd want the full retail package since
i chop and change my PC a lot.
Will I have any trouble with a US bought copy of Vista, activating and
updating it (Service packs etc)?

Reinstall Activation Problems
My laptop with Windows Vista on it went corrupt so i had to wipe the
hard drive and reinstall Windows Vista from scratch. The problem is
the product key that came with the software no longer works when i
activate windows because the activation server still thinks the key is
in use!
What do i do?!

will "Vista Activation" work on HD upgrade ?
Greetings,
i have bought and using "Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit" since almost the
first they it got released. I am loving it.
I was a bit short of money at that time and bought that "OEM /
Systembuilder" version.
I heard and read in some places that the Activation wont accept a reuse of
the key, if the pc changes too much, mostly on a mainboard change.

removing safely remove hardware icon from taskbar
i have windows vista premium , with a mass storage device ie, mini card reader.
it is built into the pc when i bought item.
also i have a tray icon that say safely remove hardware icon.?
do i need to disconnect the device and try reinstalling or any other options
would be helpful thankyou

delete previous verisions of 2nd hard drive
I have 2 hard drives and installed vista on the 2nd and kept xp on the forst
(incase I wanted to go back for some reason). I am pretty happy with vista
and now want to remove XP from 1st Hard Drive. How do I do this. I don't care
if I have to format, or detele everything seperately. ...

screensavers not starting
Whichever screensaver that I choose to use, it fails to start. Two additional
points:
[1] the screensaver used to work - I've had my new pc since Feb - but it
stopped working about 2 weeks ago
[2] I've noticed that if I lock the pc (CTRL+ALT+DEL, Lock Computer) then
the screensaver will start in that mode, however as soon as I unlock and
return to the Vista desktop, then it fails to ...

Upgrade to Vista?
Hi All,
Got my upgrade disc for Vista Business.
So. What to do.
Im just really unsure whether to take the plunge in case things stop
working.
It's not exactly mission critical what I do, but I want my things to
work, such as iTunes, Norton, Firefox, Thunderbord, VirtualDub, Womble
MPEG-VCR, VideoReDo, TMPGEnc etc.
Im guessing most of everythings going to work, not seeing too m...

Vista will not load without CD at Startup
Hi,
Whenever I start up my computer, it says there there is an error in the
winlogin(logon?).exe file but when I put the CD in, it boots up just fine. Is
this normal or can something be done about this?...

vista up grade problem
I am installing Vista over xp2 The system stops installation with error
> 0x80ff0000 the error message reads " Windows could not set the offline
> locale information
> Errorcode 0x80FF0000

Should I upgrade to Vista?
Is Vista any good? I am considering upgrading from XP Home but I'm told it
there are numerous problems with it including causing slow Internet

SATA disk disappears after deleting Volume Shadow Copy by system, Update for Visual Studio 2005 , KB932232
Hi there.
A really funny thing happend on my way to the forum this morning :-)
After Microsoft's Update service installed the update for Visual Studio 2005
, KB932232 My Maxtor SATA disk completely disappeared (error (0x80070015) in
the logs.
According to the Windows Vista Ultimate System log and App logs Windows was
deleting a Volume Shadow Copy right before this happened

Crazy Vista Issues!
Ok. So I have an issue that I don't know can be solved, but i hope you guys

home premium which was cool although it took me a while to figure it out

Install OS to external drive possible?
I apologize if this was answered yet but is it possible to install Vista to
an external drive? During beta period I had attempted to install the vista
beta to my WD external drive and was told by tech support that it wasn't
possible (at that time). Has this changed now so that it IS now possible?
and is it possible to install ANY operating system to an external drive?

Black Screen on first restart after installation/setup

Synctoy won't run
Brand new install of Vista Business x64, trying to install the software I use
most, including Synctoy 1.4. It installs fine, but won't run -- I get a
dialog box announcing "Synctoy has stopped working." Never seen this before.

Change to Windows XP
Hello
I have a new HP notebook and there some applications that don´t work quite
right. So I called HP and they told me that there is a "Down Grip", I type it
between quotes because is what i heard I´m not sure that is written this way,
anyway , by using this (down grip), you can install Windows XP, but still
keeping your Windows Vista License.
Is there some data about how to get this?...

Vista:UpdateDriverForPlugAndPlayDevices gets ERROR_INSUFFICIENT_BU
ERROR_INSUFFICIENT_BUFFER (122): The data area passed to a system call is too
small.
When installing our hardware in Vista, our setup program gets this error
when calling UpdateDriverForPlugAndPlayDevices. The setup program and INF
file are working fine in win2003 and XP.
The error will only show on a first install of the hardware. At the end of

Japanese Keyboard and OS with English LIP
I just bought a Japanese Laptop.
It came with Japnese Windows Vista Ultimate installed.
I downloaded and installed the English LIP.
Now my system runs in English.
My keyboard is a Japanese layout. And I have to write in both Japanese and

Vista Volume License
I purchased what I thought was a full version of Windows Vista Business
Volume license CD. I also purchased the Volume License to go with it. When I
received the media, it is labeled Microsoft Windows Vista Business Upgrade.

All right, last night my parent's bought a new computer because there old

Unorthodox Business to Ultimate
I downloaded and installed Vista Business from the school MSDNAA server.
