Does Vista Home Basic have the IUSR user account?
I can't see it in the list of user names.
Can I create one if it doesn't exist?
Thanks...

Roaming Profile Problems
Okay now I may have missed something, but I thought that getting a
roaming profile was as easy as going to the properties of the user in
AD, then going to the profile tab and in the textbox next to "Profile
Path" placing something like '\\<computer_name>\users\coyote' for an
user called coyote. Then have the user log in and out (this should not
require a reboot although tell me if it does ...

Local user profiles
How does Vista deal with non-roaming domain user profiles?
On XP, when a domain user logged out their profile was left behind in
Documents and Settings so I ran a weekly script to clear all old profiles out.
However in Vista, these profiles seem to stay behind, and if I delete them
manually then they are always logged in using a TEMP user profile which then
disappears after they logout...

Cannot Switch Users
I cannot switch users as explained in the help files. I am using Windows
Vista Business. I can go to the manage users area. When I switch usersin the
start menu it only gives me the administrators login profile. The switch user
function was working properly and the today it decided to go on strike.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? If so have you found a solution.
Thanks...

Need For Passwords in Vista
In one of the FAQ on support.microsoft.com it was asked if there had to be a
password associated with a user name. The answer was no that a password was
not needed but recommended. I have a friend who lives alone and just
purchased a new computer. Everything that she turns the computer on, she is
greeted with a request for her password. She lives along and is the only
person that ever ac...

"Lock" Vista
I do not have the Vista installed on my PC, I am asking on behalf of my Dad.
I set up the Vista for them, and they do not have a password for the user
account. My dad accidentally hit the "Lock" button (in Start menu) instead
of the off button. He says it now says "User Locked" I haven't checked it
out yet, and am unfamiliar with Vista but how can I unlock it if there is no
password ass...

Start Menu Problem
I have Windows Vista Premium and have two User accounts, both with
Administrator access. One account is fine, but the other has a blank Start
Menu. I've tried pinning short cuts to it and customizing the Start Menu
under the User Account profiles, but nothing is working. Any idea what the
issue might be. It was working for awhile, but went blank after the latest
FireFox update. I as...

Unable to save console in MMC
Back when I worked with Windows XP Pro and while I was logged in as
Administrator, I used this procedure for saving, for example, Devices
Manager's preffered window position:
Start - Run - mmc.
Then, File - Open - C:\Windows\System32\devmgmt.msc.
Adjust window position (height, width), save and close.
Now I have Windows Vista Ultimate and I am logged in as Administrator.
But foll...

Vista and Lap Tops
My vista- Home basic - does not work well with my lap top.
It often freezes and needs to be rebooted
It is slow and the interface is counterintuitive. Who wants all that extra
junk in the start menu.
Also, I find the user controls to be invasive. The admin shouldent have
their features turned off as a default.
Also, it seems to hate blender, and my other 3d animation software.
