Security: Remote Desktop for Admin. w/ Server 2003 Domain Control
Are there any security issues with using Remote Desktop for Administration on
our domain controllers? Are there any other issues we should consider?
All of our servers are running Windows Server 2003.
On Windows Server 2000, I understand that there was an issue with using
Terminal Services in Application Server mode. It seems to me that this
should not be a problem if only administra...

remote desktop to client computer
Ok, this is probably something easy but I just don't know how to do it. I
have a Win2003 server machine with a static IP and an associated internet
domain name. I can remote desktop into it just fine using the internet domain
name. I have a client computer running XP Pro SP2 joined to the domain
running on the server. I want to be able to remote desktop into the client
machine but cannot...

Need help: Can't remote into Windows 2k3 Server
I am completely confused on this and would greatly appreciate any
help/information. We had an old Windows 2K Server and we migrated to a
new server that runs Windows 2k3 R2 SP2. All the settings are
completely the same on both machines. We checked all of them. On our
internal network we can remote into the server fine, but as soon as
someone tries from the outside, it doesn't work. It sa...

View All Hosts
Hey there, if there is any way I would like to see the full list of
every host I have ever connected to when using the remote desktop to
terminal services. Its just a pain to have to type in the host
computer every time it drops off the list.
Thanks.

Win2003 GPO for TermServ access
I'm trying to set up a GPO that is applied to an OU that will allow
anyone who is a member of the Administrators group to log in
remotely. If I add the Administrators group to the "Local Policies/
User Rights Assignment/Allow log on through Terminal Services"
setting, then it seems to me that all members of the local
Administrators group for that machine should allow remote desktop. As

GPO for Terminal Server
Hi All,
I am trying to get mandatory profiles going with GPO's for Terminal Server.
When I fill in the Profile Path: field on the Terminal Services Profile tab
of the user account properties it works just fine. (filling it in with folder
path of the mandatory profile). When I try to do what I think is the
equivalent in a GPO it doesn't. GPO setting I am configuring is Computer

Process don't use CPU as he should and could!
Hi
I have an application who wirtes data into Excel and then shows up the print
preview.
The problem is, that the excel.exe-process only uses 0-5 % of the CPU,
although the server has 40-60% CPU free.
I always thought that every process consumes as much CPU as he will get.
The server: W2K3 SP1, 4 GB RAM, GBit-NIC, background-service and systemcache

Hope anybody could ...

Image W2K3 Terminal Server
Is there any side effects / long term effects of imaging a Windows 2003 Ent

Network Printing
We have a remote location that has two thin clients. They connect, via RDP,
to our main office's Terminal server. Currently, at the remote office, we
have a Lexmark printer connect directly to one of the thin clients and when
they log on it creates a session printer on the terminal server so they can
print. They want to get a networked copier. I'm wondering if I can set up
that networked...

Newbie Licensing question
Hi,
I've got a TS (2003) running with 50 client licenses. I need to put Excel on
the server but I don't want to buy (I don't need) 50 licenses. How do I
restrict Excel to the 5 users that need it?
Can I restrict them by machine? Or is it possible to restrict by user
account?
Or is it not possible and I have to buy 50 Excel licenses?
Thanks,
Steve
