WSUS 3 Client BSOD
We have the WSUS client installed on (Fully patched) Dell GX520's with
Windows XP Pro. When we run a status report and try to print the status
report for one computer (6 pages) it has blue screened everytime and not
logged any errors or warnings in our logs it has also not given the "Your
system has recovered from a serious error" message when we restart them.
We have disabled all start...

WSUS 3.0 Update list
When I click on any of the update views(Critical updates, security updates)
it does not filter the classification. In other word when I click on
Critical updates, it shows me all updates(Drivers, update rollups, service
packs). It does the same thing when I click on the security update view.
Basically there is no difference from when I check the 'All Updates' view,
and the Critical, or...

After WSUS 3.0 Install Clients Not Reporting In - Another Issue
I have recently upgraded to WSUS 3.0 from 2.0. I run SBS 2003 R2 and
WSUS 2.0 worked, fine but trouble started with the upgrade to 3.0. I
have given up on getting WSUS 3.0 to work inside the SBS Management
Console and instead am focused on getting WSUS 3.0 working on its own.
I have previously checked and double checked IIS directory security
settings, reset the password for the IUSR_LEORA ...

WSUS 3.0 Instillation
I have setup two servers on our network with WSUS 3.0. One is 2k3sp2 and
second is a longhorn beta 3 test server. On both servers I have recieved an
error after instilation, and the MMC snap-in cannot contact the server. On
the 2k3 server I had to reinstalled .net 2.0 to fix this issue, but since
..net 2.0 is built into longhorn I do not have this option. Any suggestions?...

svchost 100% CPU on XP not using WSUS
In January I found one of our workstations thrashing CPU time with svchost.
After searching the web, I concluded that quick fix was to take it out of
scope of GPO implementing WSUS on clients. Sure enough it has not reported
status to the server since January.
That did fix the problem - until today.
I have been updating the workstation weekly direct from Microsoft Update.
When I tried...

Upgraded to WSUS 3.0 now MS CRM 3.0 does not work
Hi,
I have MS CRM 3.0 installed and its been working fine.
I have just upgraded (or maybe degraded :-) our server to WSUS 3.0 (from
2.0Sp1). Now MS CRM does not want to work correctly.
I am logged onto our Server (Win 2003, SQL 2005, IIS etc) as the
administrator (this user has system admin rights in MS CRM).
But, now, whenever I use http://<servername>:5555 to connect to MS...

WSUS updates installed in the past report
Does anyone know of a way to get a list of all updates installed in
the past
month? From what I can see the WSUS3 reporting doesn't allow you to
be that
selective. Even if I could perform an SQL query to get the info that
would
help. Thanks.

WSUS3 - group membership display incorrect
I've been noticing that members of one of my groups aren't showing up
correctly. Here's the scenario
I have a group called "All XP", all computers with XP go in it.
In addition to this group there are several other groups.
When you view one of these other groups and click on a computer in them
it shows the computer as being a part of All Computers and the group you
are viewing, if the...

KB831167 again: something wrong with the superseding settings in WSUS 3.0?
Hi,
To come back again on the problem with the KB831167 update:
The problem is:
This update is indicated by WSUS 3.0 to be needed by many of our Win 2000
SP4 clients with IE6 SP1, but after an install that seems to go OK, it is
immediately offered again as needed update.
When I tried to install it manually on one of the Win 2000 SP4 clients, a
pop-up told that I needed IE6 SP1 on th...

account and restarting IIS to recreate it, also verifying the correct
security for WSUS website etc. If I change anonymous access to the

Can WSUS patch these MS applications?
SQL 2000?
Office 2000?

MSXML 2.6?
MDAC?
Also, where can I find a comprehensive list of what WSUS 3.0 *can* patch.
The ones I've found are vague. For example they list SQL and SQL 2005. What
is *SQL*?
Thanks.

Servers with "Not Approved" show as requiring update
I have a WSUS 3.0 server that insists that some servers need updates even
though I set the approval to "Not Approved".

Below Standard Servers is a group called "SQL Servers" that has SQL Server
updates approved and inherit the approvals for all the core OS updates.
So why are servers in the Standard Serve...
