WSUS and Group Policy
Is there a new wuau.adm file that corresponds with WSUS 3.0? In the current
file there is a windows update setting to "Specify intranet Microsoft update
service location" that would allow you to create a GPO to indicate the server
location from which to retrieve updates via url (http:// location for the
server). This worked great with WSUS 2.0. Does this work for WSUS 3.0 or am

Best Practice for changing Web Port for WSUS
Hi Guys,
I got a server running WSUS ver 2.0 which is on Port 80, I want to change it
to 8530.
Chaning workstations - thats easy.
Server - is it just a case of changing IIS? or remove WSUS ver 2 (keeping
SQL data, files, etc) and reinstalling? or other
What is the best practice to do this?
Thanks

Minimum rights to install patches on a DC
Can anyone tell me the minimum rights required to install updates on a DC in
and W2K3 AD Domain? We have a "computer operations" group, and it's their
role to log on and install updates. Obviously they need some rights to log
on and install updates, but I don't want to give them administrator rights
otherwise they'll have much more priviledge than they need. Thanks.

WSUS 3 Database Problems
I have recently upgraded WSUS 2 to 3 and have been having some problems with
its database.
This was a double upgrade (not a good idea, I know!) as WSUS 2 was running
on Windows 2000 and MSDE previously, requiring me to upgrade the OS to
Windows 2003 SP2 first before upgrading WSUS.
I mistakenly thought that the free desktop version of SQL Server 2005 SP1
would be better than the Wind...

SQL2005_SP2 with WSUS 3.0 on Windows Server 2003
Hi,
we'll upgrade our WSUS 2.0 (on SQL2000 sp4) to WSUS 3.0 (on SQL 2005 sp2). in
deployment guide (and also in overview) it says something like WSUS 3.0 supports SQL
2005 SP1 on W2k3 and SQL 2005 SP2 on Longhorn.
are there any problems installing WSUS 3.0 with SQL 2005 SP2 on Server 2003?
Thanks. ...

WSUS to pass cmd line args to patch ?
Per the title - running up a slight problem applying W2k3 SP2 to some
machines whose C: drives are a little on the tight side for space. If
I could pass an argument to the installer so it kicks off and creates
the uninstall directory to the alternative loaction I specify, that
would be great.
I can't find any documentation on how I might accomplish this, so
assume it's not an out-of-the-bo...

WSUS 3.0 on WSS 3.0 server
I'd like to put WSUS 3.0 onto my WSS server but when I try setting WSUS up
in my test environment it doesn't seem to be working properly. WSUS
installs everything in the default directory and not in the WSS directory

Is it possible to even install WSUS onto a server with WSS on it already?
If so does anybody know how I can accomplish this?

I can logon and manually start the service. It's driving me nuts. Any help
