Server 2003 SP2 versions.
Dear reader,
First of all, I have to congratulate you with this very nice product.
Way better then the 2.0 version. Very nice.
However, I encounter a problem with the logic. I simply do not understand
following:
KB 914961, the 3 SP2 for Server 2003 (with 3 versions of processor types)

Cannot see Server in list of Computers
Hello
I have installed WSUS 3 on a new server. It sees all the client PC's ok but
wont show the server itself. The summary page looks and shows the server but
in the list of computers I only see the clients. The server is obviously
setup in SBS 2003 and in the domain but whatever I do I cannot get it to
appear in the list...

WSUS doesn't get localised versions of the Forefront client
Hi
Startet testing Forefront on client pc's.
I have every thing setup and WSUS ( version 3.0 ) automatically give my
english windows server 2003 machines the client components when i give them
a forefront policy.
But on Danish mashines (XP sp2 / vista ) they are "not applicable" ??
When looking at the forefront client details on the WSUS server it is stated
that it supports english,...

WSUS 2 to 3 upgrade, Error 0x8004146A
Hi
Got a frontend 2003 Sp2 and a backend 2003 x64 sp2 with sql 2005 x64 sp2.
When i try to upgrade, it fails with the Error 0x8004146A, The SQL server
database is not compatible with WSUS 2.0.
Is there a workaround ?

Upgrade from WSUS 1.0 to 3.0
My company is currently running wsus 1.0 I want to upgrade to 3.0
the wsus 1.0 installattion is running SQL 2000 SP4. CAn I still use SQL
2000 SP4 or do I need to upgrade to SQL 2005?

IP Address Change
I am running WSUS 3.0. We just went through an ip address conversion on our
network and all the computers in wsus stopped reporting. I deleted all the
computer in hopes that they would begin reporting again but they haven't. Can
someone point me in the right direction please....

WSUS Server in DMZ
I have 2 WSUS servers configured. One of these servers is on our internal
network and one is in our DMZ. I have installed the administrator console on
my Windows XP system (internal network) so I can manage both of these
servers. I can only manage the internal WSUS server. The console will not
allow me to connect to the DMZ server. Any ideas? What firewall ports are
needed to allow...

WSUS3 and copying 'approved for install' setting between groups
I'm sure I'm just missing this so please be kind....
I have a TEST computer group and I've approved for install many patches for
this group. I test my patches and am now ready push those patches to another
PROD computer group. Is there any way to copy the approval from the TEST
group to the PROD group en masse rather than going into each patch one at a
time. Thanks for any pointers.

Wus 2.0 to 30 upgrade

i am running WUs 2.0 sp1 whith the database on a sql 2005 databse,
when i try to upgrade the to wus 3.0 i get this error
Failed to connect to sql server ********
The database can nob be upgraded by windows server update services 3.0

Disabled update shows as Not approved
Looking at one update from Update's console in the Approval column I
can see that is declined. Double-clicking on it, on the reports it
shows just Not approved. Anywhere else (eg. searching the update, then
double-click on the find update) shows the same. How can I see that is
declined, not just Not approved?

Replica mode - Update Contents

I've had a "test" WSUS server on the LAN, with all updates already
downloaded, approved, computer groups intact etc. Now wanted to
install a clean WSUS on a production server.
What I did was to set up the "new" server in replica mode, and it
worked fine, it downloaded all the content from the test server fine.

WSUS Snap-in Fix! 3.0
I have found the fix to the Can not create snap-in in mmc error on console
load for WSUS 3.0.
Great deal of headache for such a simple fix
C:\Windows\System32\mmc.config.exe
Rename this file to mmc.config.exe.old then re-open the console. It should
now load.
It appears that that entry is trying to load .Net 1.1 on console start up
rather than using the new mmc.exe snap-in. (c:\Windows\S...

Automate the WSUS 3.0 Cleanup Wizard
Is there a command line I can use (via the Task Scheduler) to run the
Database Cleanup Wizard. In WSUS 2.0 I manually handled the Declines and
then had a command line that would clean up the database storage. The WSUS
3.0 cleanup wizard does this for me, but I'd like to script it.

Change password for IUSR account
When we have an IT Audit we get flagged for domain user has no required
password. The accounts are IUSR_servername that were created by WSUS. Can
these passwords be changed without messing up WSUS and if so where and how.
