WSUS3 and IE7
I have a problem, I have installed WSUS3, but in my organization 14 PC on 150
don't install IE7 and report this error: "Installation error: could not
install this update. Error 0x80070643: Windows Internet Explorer 7.0 for
Windows XP."

wsus 3.0 and 816093 update for ms virtual machine
Hi All:
Is there something unusual on WSUS 3.0 and a Microsoft Virtual Java
Machine update with the number of 816093? I have about a dozen
clients whose machines report needing this update in WSUS 3.0. I've
approved the update for all and if you look at each of the machines'

Where is my post and the reply?
I made a post this morning (in UK) 06/06/07 entitled
WSUS 3 on SBS 2003 - One client not updating.
I got an email notification telling me someone had kindly replied.
Click the link and it takes me to the newsgroup but not to the reply nor my
post as its not there. In fact the last post shown is 5/6/2007 (US Date) so
no posts showing to day at all.

Best Way To Upgrade To 3.0
I've got a solid WSUS 2.0 installation with the database on a separate SQL
Server 2005 SP2 server. The WSUS 3.0 updates are available to both servers
via my existing WSUS install.
Is that the best way to get up to 3.0? Is there a specific order to upgrade
the servers? I thought I have done my due diligence and looked around for
instructions, but I haven't been able to find anything t...

Server Cleanup Wizard broke
It freezes at "Deleting unused updates" and can't closed. If you try to
close it it pops up saying it's stopping and to wait a few moments then
it just sits there. Only way to get out of it is to use task manager to
force the entire MMC to quit, fortunately it restarts without issue.
No idea what has changed since the last time I used it, I haven't done
anything but move computers around ...

No computers reporting and LOTS of 80244019
I have a WSUS 3.o server I just installed. Uninstalled 2.0 and installed 3.0
Have several Vista boxes and another 2003 server. None of the boxes (not
even the WSUS server itself) have reported or show up in the WSUS console.
Looking at the update log on the WSUS server itself I see the following.

Remove obsolete updates from client computers automatically
I have implemented WSUS for my desktop computers which all run Windows XP
SP2. How do i remove old updates from my clients automatically without having
to manually go to Add\Remove Programs in the Control Panel?

WSUS 2 -> 3 Upgrade Issues
I am upgrading from the latest version of WSUS 2 to WSUS 3. The process runs
fine until I press the "Finish" button. The configuration wizard does not
come up and I get the following error screens:

All Clients IP equal WSUS Server IP in console
There is a strange situaition with 2 of my replica WSUS v3.0 servers. All
clients ip adresses in console are equal to servers ip address. 1 of them was
upgraded from WSUS v2.0, 2nd is clean install WSUS v3.0. There is no problem
with the rest of replica WSUS servers. Does anybody see this strange things

WSUS 3.0 Patching
I want to know how can I just push out two patches KB927891 and the new 3.0
client to our PCs via WSUS 3.0? As everyone else we expeirenced PCs svchost
running at 100%. We are trying to avoid any further slowness issuses with our
PCs so I want to just push out those 2 patches before pushing out the rest of
the patches that are needed. Any advice would be appreciated.

Unable to find any computers in WSUS 3.0?
I having a problem being able to find computers in our domain with WSUS 3.0
and I can't seem to figure out why. I followed the directions per the help
file for adding computers and clicked search and nothing comes up. Am I
missing something?...

Updated Client Not Seen by WSUS Server
WSUS 3.0 on SBS Server. All working well. Recently
updated client machine from W2K to XP sp2. WSUS server
recognized OS change, but needed to rename client from
MYCOMP to MYCOMPXP. WSUS status states MYCOMP has not
been updated (since rename) MYCOMPXP not listed. Should

WSUS2.0 to 3.0 Ugrade issues
After upgrading to 3.0 I was able to see the client machines but they were
not reporting. I ran a client diagnosis and everything passes, so I moved
onto the Windowsupdate.log. Below you will find what it reported back, it is
able to check if a selfupdate is required but it runs into problems with
getting the cookie.

policy settings
Hi,
I've got wsus 3.0 running in my computer lab and want to test the affects of
the different registry settings.
Ideally, I would like to initially just scan the machines to see what
they're missing but eventually I would like to scan and install and reboot on
the weekends.

Has anyone been able to backup the WSUS 3.0 database using Veritas
BackupExec 9.1 SP5 /w Advance Open File Agent & SQL Agent ?
I was able to backup the WSUS 2.0; but now, I get an error when selecting

Talking to ISA 2006
I can't get my ISA 2006 server to "talk" to my WSUS 3.0 server (Fserver01) in
my internal net .
On ISA I changed the system policy to include the WSUS website but no luck.
In the URL set I used both http://fserver and http://fserver:8530 since I
opted to have WSUS configure its own website. I ran the client diagnostic

Can I move 2.0 approvals over to out new 3.0 server?
We're putting in a beefier server for WSUS 3.0 and we would like to carry
over our current WSUS 2.0 appovals to the new system. Is this possible? If

WSUS or Landesk ?
Hello,

I am actually in a big company with several AD sites etc...
We would like to choose a nice patch deployment application but we
hesitate between WSUS 3 or Landesk with patch deployment capabilities.

WSUS 3.0 - SelfUpdate on SBS 2003 R2
So I installed WSUS 3.0 server on my SBS2003 R2 server. It is working
fine and the clients are getting updates however I keep getting the
selfUpdate not working event log.

Can not find 931906 in WSUS
Good Day,
I am running WSUS 2.0 SP1 and I noticed that I do not have 931906 in my
updates. I ran a search and did not fine the update listed. I have under
Products and Classifications: All Updates
Approval: All Updates
Synchronized: Any time

Remote SQL Server connection error
I'm doing a fresh install of WSUS 3 on a new server and I'm trying set up the
database on a remote server running SQL 2005. We are using the default
instance name but whenever I try to install I keep getting the following
error:
[DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (ParseConnectParams()).]Invalid connection.
I'm not a SQL guy so this error makes no sense to me. What am I missing?...
