Removing files
Some of you may remember me from a few days ago when I couldn't even download
updates. Well I finally figured out that it was our new firewall and I
changed a setting and we've been update downloadin' fools ever since.
Which actually is my new problem... I've currently downloaded 8 gigs of
updates. Something tells me I don't need all of those.
Here's my network situation..

I have recently installed WSUS 3.0 on my network, and I am really
anxious to use it, but all of the updates either say that they have

it try to re-download any of the updates, I get the same outcome. No
update files will or ever have downloaded. I just installed the
server last week, and upon initial synchronozation, I ha...

Automatic Updates and Detection Frequency
Hi,
I'm testing out WSUS 3 for updates and have a question about proper
group policy settings. If I set the Configure Automatic Updates
properties to 4- Auto Download and schedule the install Every day at
12:00pm and have the Automatic Updates detection frequency set to 24
hours, does the machine download the updates if they are available
after 24 hours, and then not install them until 12:0...

Are these shares required? If so, what are the required share and ntfs
security permissions for these shares? I would like to lock them down as much
as possible without impacting the functionality of WSUS 3.0

WSUS Not downloading correctly
Probably me but let's try anyway..
Okay none of my computers are updating and I think I have for the most part
figured out why. I am able to successfully syncronize, however I seem to not
be able to download the update files. Does anyone have any idea why this
would be happening?

there has been little if no progress. I have not been getting any error

Default action, not install
I haven't found it yet in WSUS 3.0, but is there a way to setup the system to
not automatically do an install, but show if the clients need an update.
That is the way we had WSUS 2.0 configured, it did an automatic install on
our test machines, but only a check to see if the update was needed on all
others. Then as we rolled them out, we did it a container at a time....
