Looking for a version of WSUS that will run on SBS2000.
Can anyone help with this?

Installing WSUS3 on SBS 2003 SP1 (no R2): error 0x80070643
While I install WSUS3 on my SBS 2003 SP1 installation, which is not
R2, installation fails with an error message about processes, and then
exits. The WSUSSetup.log file contains:

2007-06-22 21:05:32 Error MWUSSetup Failed to determine
if an higher version of WSUS is installed. Assuming it is not.....

Failed uninstall and re-install of WSUS 3.0
I had multiple failures trying to uninstall of WSUS 3.0 (x64). The first
error was using Add/Remove programs removed. It stated a failure to complete
the un-install, but removed it from the Add/Remove Programs list! Trying to
use the command-line /u parameter also failed every time.
These are the four (4) error lines that always occurred:

Can this be done or is it a complete uninstall / reinstall of the product?

Upgrade of WSUS 2 to WSUS 3 causes w3wp.exe to run at 99% CPU
I just tried to upgrade my WSUS 2 server to WSUS 3. The installation
completed successfully but the server is pretty much unusable. W3WP.exe is
running at 99% CPU making it extremely slow. This is a VM so I have reverted
back to WSUS 2 using a snapshot I took before the upgrade.
Server is 2003 R2 SP2 with 1 GB ram. Nothing else on this server but WSUS.

API-Remoting Webservice does not work - Event 12012
Hi,
after installing WSUS 3.0 on W2K3 SP2 the eventlog contains error 12012 -
API-Remoting Webservice does not work.
The only restriction I notice is that I am not able to connect my server
through the Update Services SnapIn if it is started on the server itself.

WSUS 3: How to resync when a update is missing?
Hi,
i have no idea why, but in my list of updates on our WSUS server is no
..Net Framework 2.0 for germany listed.
I found this problem because we now need to have the framework on the
clients and i wonder why it naver has been installed.
The updates for the frameworks are listed.
Is there a way to resync the update information so that i can approcve
the framework?

Internal Database errors
I've had some Windows Internal Database problems with WSUS3! I did a
reinstall which seemed to fix things until I rebooted the server today when
the problem has retuned again.
I get errors with the Internal Database, it fails to start, the first error
is Event ID17053

Running Out of Space
I am using WSUS version 1. I installed that WSUS in D drive with about 22GB
of spaces. Now I only have 500 MB left in that D drive (a partition of 1
harddisk). I am thinking about installing the WSUS in new other server with
sufficient spaces and download all updates from the old server so that I do
not need to download the all updates from internet.

Windows Update no longer working 0x80004002
Windows automatic update is no longer working. Since June 10 I get
0x80004002 related errors.
Then today I tried to update manually from the windows update site,
which brings me in an endless loop. The message after selecting quick
update is that necessary registrations and files are not on the
computer, I am asked to correct this, I continue, Windows is

Problem Installing KB929123
Update 929123 does not want to install on our citrix servers and one other
server all windows 2003 R2 servers. The update was approved and downloaded
to the servers. We install manually. Installing this update shows as being
completed successfully on the update status screen of the servers requiring

Client Not Reporting
I've tried all the normal troubleshooting steps including replacing the
registry entries that we've installed on all our machines to point to the
server as well as removing the old softwaredistribution folder and
windowsupdate log. None have worked thusfar.
Client diagnostic tool was run and no issues were found. Can post report

WebServices Failures -WSUS 2.x to 3.x. Changing from 8530 back to

Our Windows Update Server originally started as SUS 1.x
We then upgraded to WSUS 2.x.. and then to WSUS 2.x SP1.
Last week, we upgraded to WSUS 3.x The upgrade had no problems.
But, we noticed that after the upgrade, the clients were no longer checking
the update server, and many event viewer logs showed errors for Windows
update, related to not finding the Update Server, etc.

MMC could not create the snap-in
Hi,
Upgraded from wsus 2 to 3 without errors.
However can not start the wsus 3 administration console.
I get the following message:
MMC could not create the snap-in.

WSUS 3.0 Install issue
I've gotten to the point in the install where it is running the Configuration
Window... everytime I click the "Start Connecting" button to save & download
upstream server (Microsoft Update) & proxy server (none) info, it tries for a
few seconds and then reports:

is it possible to set finite window for updates
We use WSUS to update our servers on the weekend. Is it possible to set a
window so that upgrades do not start until a specified time and are complete
by a specified time.
I can set a deadline so that updates are started by a certain time, however,
if I approve the updates early they may start before I want them to.

Windows Internal Database Questions
Hi,
At the moment we have a dedicated WSUS 2 server also running SQL Server 2000
on it our WSUS DB Sits on the SQL server and is 1.6gig in size, there is also
about another 15 DB's sat on this SQL Server.
I'm currently running WSUS 3 in our test environment pushing out updates to

How to add/edit approval on multiple updates?

Now I have one computer group for each location and one for the testlab (for
testing updates)
When an update is downloaded to the server I approve it in the root-tree and
let the testlab computer group inherit that. I set the location computer

Needed count configuration
Needed count should not show patches that haven't been approved for install
yet. If I don't want it to go out yet, then it isn't needed.
