Windows Update Client standalone setup cannot be run in wow64 mode
I have two Itanium 2 systems running Windows 2003. After I set them up in the
registry to connect to the WSUS server I run ClientDiag.exe and this is the

wsus 3.0 supported os
Does wsus 3.0 support windows 2000 server as operating system that will host
the update service. I have gone thru the deploy guide but no reference was
made to it.
I will appreciate if some can confirm the above or there is hack to enable
windows 2000 server compataible with it.

No Update notifications on some Windows 2000 SP4 PCs
Has anyone else encountered a problem where updates are being installed by
the WSUS 3.0 scheduled install, but there is no user notification that a
reboot is required?
This lack of notification extends to admin users not being able to install
updates before the sheduled install time, too.

WSUS 2.0 upgrade to 3.0 failed

Whole upgrading process are fine without error but no configuration

Can WSUS 3.0 be installed on a Virtual Machine? Are there any known side
effects for doing this?
If I do this how would I export the data from my WSUS 2.0 server onto this
new 3.0 sevrer?

clients not reporting status after updating WSUS 2 to WSUS 3.0
After i upgraded to WSUS 3.0, my client computers are no longer reporting
status in WSUS. In console, they are all listed with yellow triangle and
exclamation point. How can i fix that?

Using Windows Update 3.0 without an internet connection
I have a standalone WSUS 3.0 Server that doesn't have connectivity to the
internet. Updates are downloaded as per the Microsoft method ie.
- Backing up the {Drive Letter}:\WSUS\WsusContent directory on the download
server and restoring to the Standalone server.
- Running wsusutil.exe to export the cab file.
- Running wsusutil.exe to import the cab file.
Updates are shown on the Server ...

Microsoft Software License Terms failed to download
Hi,
I'm just setting up WSUS 3.0 from scratch and I've noticed that there are
some downloads that can't be approved because:
"This update cannot be approved for installation because its Microsoft
Software License Terms failed to download. Click Retry Download to start the
download again."
I've tried re-starting the download but without success. This affects quite
a few downloads, ...

Clients don't report
I am using Wsus 2.0 since long time everything was all right just some 2
weeks ago we changed our IP scheme from class C to class be and the IP of the
Wsus server and clients were all changed and since then all of my wsus
clients just stop reporting to wsus server, I am pasting the log of one of

WSUS 3.0
I am running Windows 2003 R2 (SP1). I have approved SP2 for Windows 2003 R2
and in the report it show Install and downloaded. This does not support
deadlines and says user input required. Is there something I need to do
manually to get WSUS to push out SP2 for my Windows 2003 machines?

Error on XP installing WSUS 3.0 admin console
I recently installed wsus 3.0 and it runs fine on the server. I set up a map
drive to my wsus server update services folder in program files. I am trying
to install the admin console on my xp machine and I get the following error
when I run WusSetup.exe:

WSUS Listing of Missing Computers
We use WSUS to push updates to both staff and public computers. I'd like to
know how or if there's a way to have computers listed in the "Review Missing
Computers" Category removed from that listing. I have several public pcs
that we need out of that listing. We do use a PC Sanitizer on Public PCs to
prevent unwanted downloads, so I'm wondering if that's causing them to be
listed there ...

Managing remote laptops via WSUS 3.0
WSUS configuration:
WSUS 3.0
One WSUS server, setup with local storage of updates.
Our remote laptops are in a their own OU. I would like to have the updates
detected and approved via WSUS and have the clients download the updates
from the MS update site, rather than the internal WSUS server. Is this

Missing PC's after upgrading to WSUS Ver3
I have justed noticed that approx 21 Computers from the list after upgrading
to WSUS3. And a few others in wrong groups. Anyone seen this?
We did also upgrade to Windows SQL 2005 SP1 as apart of the ugprade. Should
we have used the Internal database?
Is it just a case of waiting for Pc's to report in?

Cannot uninstall WSUS 3.0
I had some problems with IIS and the WSUS server, so I tried installing and
reinstalling wsus. Now I have a real problem, because when trying to run the
setup program I get an alert box saying: "The Windows Server Update Services
3.0 was not removed successfully because an error occurred". It seems to be

Export update list?
Each month when we approve updates on WSUS, we send a notification to our
branch office IT staff to let them know what updates are being installed.
In WSUS 2.0, I would screenshot the list in the WSUS console and stitch them
together, then send the image -- since there was no way to export the list.
I figured WSUS 3.0 would have the standard "export list" option since it is

Forcing Remote Clients To Check With WSUS?
Is it possible to force a remote client to check with WSUS for updates using
command line entries from a remote workstation? I am trying to determine if
there is a way to force a client to initiate a check with an update server
without having to logon to the console of that system and run the commands
locally on the workstation itself.
Is this possible?

WSUS 3.0 Upgrade failure
Hello,
I attemped to upgrade from WSUS 2.0 to 3.0 and it failed halfway through the
install. I am trying to start over and do a new install of 3.0 but I get this
error during the install:
"the wizard could not detect any exisiting web sties. To try again, verify

"restart later" timer broke!
RebootRelaunchTimeout is mysteriously being ignored. I had an issue
previously where I had it set to something like 340 and instead of 340
minutes it did the default of 10 minutes. After posting a question about
it here someone from MS suggested that this was too high a number, so I
lowered it to 120 and it worked after that. Now I have noticed that it's
back to only doing the default 10...

new image issue
We have a segment of our network that has no internet access by design.
When we build a new machine (or image) it refuses to check in with our WSUS
server from that segment. It is only after the pc (or imaging machine) gets
moved to a segment that has internet access that it checks in with the Wsus
server.
Is that by design or is there flaw?

migrating from wsus 2.0 to wsus 3.0
I have a server running windows 2003 with wsus 2.0 and another windows 2003
runs ms sql 2000 used by wsus.
I want to upgrade the wsus 2.0 to wsus 3.0. What are the steps involve and

I get different output from running the same report depending on whether I
run the report from the full list of updates or whether I run it from the
search dialog after searching for the report.
