WinHTTP Web Proxy Auto-Discovery Service
Hi.
I use WSUS just to monitor my Windows Server uptades status.
But, recently, I have some servers that have been updated without aproving
any of updates detected by WSUS server.
In event viewer I saw something with WinHTTP Web Proxy Auto-Discovery
Service. Maybe it's detecting a transparent proxy on my network and making
automatic updates. How can I discover from what proxy server was ...

Trying to regain control of WSUS - need to clear password
I have "inherited" a set of domain controllers. The previous
administrator had setup WSUS and had been running it for a while. When
he started to run out of disk space he disabled it. Since his
departure, we've installed a new NAS to handle storage and are looking
to start using WSUS again.
Problem is WSUS is asking for a password and we don't have it. Is
there a way to reset the password...

WSUS 3 "rebooting" servers without ask...
I have several Win2003 R2 SP2 servers rebooting without warning.
The owners of the applications uses the server daily via RDP
(TS, and APP Servers running "home-made" apps)
The user does NOT click to restart, but even clicking in the "restart

Support company
We do a lot of PC support for various clients. I am busy setting up WSUS to
help speed up te dep[loyment of service packs and patches to the PCs that we
repair. These PCs will not be domain members, and will therefore not be
redirected to WSUS via GP. How do I do updates to these PCs via SUS? What
must I configure on the PCs?

Can't find unapproved updates by group
If you have an auto approval rule setup that only applies to certain
WSUS client groups, the updates are then removed from Unapproved
Updates list.
When you are ready to approve the updates for the remaining groups, it
is very difficult and time consuming to manually fish through the
updates to find the ones that still need to be approved for other
groups.
Is there any quick and easy wa...

WSUS updates "Not Installed"
I am new to WSUS and have a 3.0 SP1 server that, after an automatic update,
is showing machines as still needing updates. A report shows the "Approval"
as "Install" and the "Status" as "Not Installed". This is happening on all
of my test machines. When I go to the Windows Update site it shows that it
needs the same updates.
Any idea as to why the WSUS server is not pushing down those...

Importing a hotfix into WSUS 3.0
Hi,
One of the features I read about for WSUS 3.0 is the ability to import
hotfixes into WSUS from the Windows Update Catalog.
However - every time I have tried to use this feature, the hotfix I want to
import is not available in the Windows Update Catalog and therefore I cannot
do it.
I am trying to understand what kind of patches are available to import from
the catalog which ar...

Also we have 20+ Servers (all are DC) which are setup in Distributed

I would like to clean up the unneeded updates and when running below
command as per the http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb432641.aspx
article, I don't get the option.
Is there any other way to delete the updates to free-up space as I am

Thanks in Advance.

manually populated (ie we don't use client side targetting in GPO although
all other WSUS settings come from GPO) on the replica servers once they

Should we expect problems and make changes?...

WSUS 3 on W2K8 RODC..
Does anybody know if WSUS 3/IIS will be supported on a Windows 2008 RODC? I

bandwidth issues. The first of the 6 locations is scheduled for an upgrade
in March of 2009 and we are looking at installing an RODC in this location.
I'm working on our upgrade plan so was wondering the feasibility of combining
