WSUS 3 Replica not replicating properly
I think I have found a bug in the downstream replica mode. Currently,
I have WSUS configured so manually select where PCs are sitting in
each group.
I have also enabled the reporting option to roll up status from
downstream servers.
So here's my situation:
Downstream servers get new computers hitting the WSUS, and the
computers get placed in the "Unassigned Computers" group.

can i apply update in any order? i've a big historic of patch to a
Hi,
I'm doing a study to make WSUS v3.0 available and operationnal on my
network's company.
We have since there not apply any patch on our server and workstation, i've
so a consistent historic of patchs to apply!
Is there an order to follow for applying updates or can i choose arbitrarily
some patch applied every month to make up for lost time?
Thank by advance.
Best regards.

Automatic Approvals fails
Hi,
I have WSUS 3.0 Automatic Approvals set to approve critical and security
updates to my "Dell-9200" computer group. I also have the two "Revisions to
Updates" options enabled. I can see my computers are in the "Dell-9200"
computer group.
A couple of days ago, I installed the first Office 2007 on one of the
managed computers. Ever since then, WSUS is listing several critical and...

Automatic installation on servers - how?
Hello all,
We currently have WSUS 2.0 and are getting ready to go up to 3.0. One key
feature we need is the ability to install updates on servers (sever 2003
mostly) without administrator intervention.
Now, I totally understand why you can do this from the automatic updates
client on XP and NOT on servers (as it currently stands).... because you
would not want servers re-booting un...

not approved not installed
We recently upgraded to WSUS 3 from WSUS 2. One of the items that's been a
little confusing for me is that when you look at needed/failed report it is
showing itmes that have yet to be approved as not installed and needed.
With WSUS 2 you didn't see it as needed until the update was approved. Do I
have a setting incorrect, or is this something that is "by design?"
We're running Server2...

WSUS Server 3.0 Syncs nothing
I've just installed WSUS 3.0 with direct connection to Microsoft (No proxy).
When selecting "Synchronize Now", the synchronize Status goes to
"Synchronizing:0%", then it finishes with no results.
Last synchronization: remains "Never run"
Last synchronization result: remains "Never run"
Any ideas on what could be causing this or how to troubleshoot?
Thanks...

Not Approved Updates show as Needed
All,
1) Can anyone explain why I would have machines that have Updates as Not
Approved show as Needed? This making our test process on different groups
quite confusing.
2) Also, in v2 (SP1) we would have Detected as an approval choice. This not
not an option anymore with V3. Can anyone explain an efficient approval
chioce to test different groups? I'm having to remember each update &...

Currently I have WSUS 3.0 running on old server and I have planned to
migrate it to new server. I would like to know the process to do all
neccessary backup and restore on the new server. Do I need to install IIS and
WSUS 3.0 on the new server before doing the restoration? If I prefer to use
same server name, what addditional tasks should I do?
Thank you,

when I installed 3.0. I got to the last step of the wizard on the 2.0
installer before it would actually install and i cancelled because obviously

Installed WSUS 3.0 admin console on XP SP2, logged on as a domain admin.
The admin console occasionally jams up leaving me with an hourglass cursor

Commonly, it happens at the end of applying approvals. Maybe about 10% of...

What happens when WSUS 3.0 is down?
Hi,
I've two questions:
Because I store all updates locally on the WSUS 3.0 Server, what happens
when the user starts Windows Update from their workstation. Does it ask the

it finds an update, where does it get it from? WSUS or Microsoft?
And then the same questions when WSUS is down. Does the user initia...
