WSUS 3.0 Deployment Problem
Hi All,
I uninstall WSUS 2.0 and installed WSUS 3.0 in our server, for those I have
approved MS Updates via WSUS 2.0 ( e.g. MS06-060, MS06-059... etc ), do I
need to approve again in WSUS 3.0 because it default set as " Not Approval " ?
besides, I need to approve a update in WSUS 3.0 "e.g. MS07-035 ", I would
search MS07-035 and highlight all updates, then right click select
approva...

client patch status different between replica and master
Hi,
i have 3 WSUS 3 Servers, 1 master an 2x replica
The replica shows less unpatched clients than master.
If i force a sync of replicas and master show new rollup time than but same
effect.
Date of last connection and report of client are reported from replica to
master
but seems not the patches sometimes.
Any idea ?

migrate WSUS 2.0 New sever WSUS 3.0
Here is my environment running now: WSUS 2.0, SQL 2000, Server 2003 SP2. I
want to move WSUS to a new server running Server 2003 SP2, SQL 2005 with WSUS
3.0. Should I just backup the WSUS database on the SQL2000 server and restore
it on the SQL2005 server and then install WSUS3.0 on the new server? I want
the wsuscontent file to be on d:\wsus\wsuscontent instead of the default
%windir%\w...

Reporting Tool??
I'am searching for a tool, which can be used to extract data out of the WSUS
database to a file (for example to an excel file).
Who knows which product can be used to get such a result.

Client Computers Checking with Server but not installing updates
This problem is being discussed in at least one or two other threads, but the
necessary information hasn't been posted so, rather than hijacking one of
those threads, I'm going to ask about a similar problem I'm having. I'm also
going to try to include all of the necessary information to trouble shoot the
problem.
I have about 50 PCs that are all reporting to one WSUS 3.0 Server.

Uninstall and reinstall WSUS 3 Fails
I've read all the posts and replies but no answer to my problem. I had a
problem opening the WSUS admin console so I tried to un/reinstall. Both
fail. I have no WSUS or Win Internal Db in Add/Remove. Every reinstall, I
get the prompt to preserve the database, etc. for the uninstall. I've tried
installing WSUS 2.0 but it says that a newer product is installed. I'd
appreciate anythin...

I can't remove WSUS 3 or re-install it.....any utilities to remove all traces

Computer grouping
Hi,
Can someone help me grouping the computers? I have servers, desktops,
laptops and branch offices. Some of those machines use 2000, XP, 2003. The
laptops are roaming.
What strategy should be used?
Do I need to group them according to their location or their operating
system or software that is installed ?

Downloading all languages
My options are set to download only English, but when I look at files
associated with any particular update, it lists a file for all the languages,
and even indicates it's location on my server. Am I missing something...?...

WSUS 3.0 hangs on file download
I have an isolated network where I export WSUS updates from a connected
network and import the database and copy changed files on to the isolated
network. This system worked flawlessly for a couple of years on WSUS 2.0.
However, for this month's updates WSUS is still trying to download one update
that does not exist on the connected machine and I have tried adding more

Importing ver2's DB into Ver3
How do I import/merge the data that I had from ver2 into ver3. I uninstalled
ver2 to install ver3 as it would not upgrade
I am using SBS2003 I still have the MSSQL$WSUS data and the WsusContent data...

Clients not performing self update.
We moved to WSUS3 a couple of months and everything appeared to be working
fine. Recently we have had machine that have been added to the domain and the
never fully report into the WSUS server.
I have looked at the log files on the PC's themselves and it looks like they
are failing to perform the selfupdate. They indicate that they need an update

WSUS 3 - Port
Hi All,
Just reading through release notes/install note for WSUS 3 install on
SBS, it says that you must remove/change port designation for any
websites if you have two or more websites in IIS that are using TCP
port 80.
I currently have Sharepoint & Default Website running on TCP port 80 -
is there any way to make WSUS use a different port while still
allowing clients to update?

Clients not reporting status after upgrading from 2.0 to 3.0
My server clients and XP clients are not reporting in after upgrade. Should
the SUS web site be stopped after the upgrade? Is it needed anymore? It runs
on port 80 and the WSUS administration is running on 8530. Do you need any
logs to look at? ...

WSUS 3.0 Broken?
Ok, I know quite a few people have commented on it already. And it seems to
me that WSUS 3.0 is broken. I never had a problem with WSUS 2.0 w/ SP1, and
it automatically upgraded to WSUS 3.0 and my problems started. First off,

I have a question about wsus, which i inherited in this network at work.
Is that true that after a certain amount of time the updates expired?
All PC on the net are updated with what i approve but if i join a new XP
workstation in the network, how can i make it to download all updates which i

Upgrade from WSUS 2.0
Hi,
in our organization we have a master WSUS 2.0 and several replica servers
acting as slaves for various regions. By reading the official documentation
for WSUS 3.0 I cannot find much info regarding an upgrade procedure for a
similar scenario. What path do you suggest I take in order to upgrade to
WSUS 3.0 in this specific situation?

Approved New MS Updates via WSUS 3.0, but many PCs with update err
Hi All,
I uninstalled WSUS 2.0, and install WSUS 3.0 successfully in our Windows
2003 Server Standard Edition, afterward, I approved New MS Updates to all
computer groups (~3800), but I found that there have many of those PC failed
to install the New Approved MS Updates ( ~70% successful and 25% in failed
status or update with error). I'm not sure what the problem is... but in WSUS
2....

EULA Failing to Download
There are multiple updates with this problem. The particular one I'm working
with is Windows XP SP2.
When I click on the update and select approve for install; I get the window
that says it's requesting the MS Software License Term Acceptance. The
result returns the error: "Unable to display the MS license terms for this
update; the update will not be approved"

WSUS design
Working on a WSUS 3 deployment from scratch. I've got 4 WSUS servers in
several different locations. Lets name the locations US, JAPAN, France,
and Canada.
Is it possible to have the US WSUS server act as a master configuration
server so that it pushes down all of the configuration settings,
