proper way of backing up exchange and reinstalling on same server
I had to reformat one of my servers and i have 2 backups a complete image
with acronis and a nt backup of the exchange database and exchange settings.
now i formatted the system and i can not restore the data it will not restore
with ntbackup,so i demounted my exchange store, and just replace the New os

SBS NTBACkUP permission issue
I have a very strange kind of issue with my SBS server it works fine 3
to 4 days mean backup completed successfully after the 4th day it fails
with the following error back i am pasting my log file from last two

SBS 2003 R2 Premium with WSUS 3.0

I am running Windows Small Business Server 2003 Premium Edition which

Names missing in server usage report (recommended DHCP/DNS setting
Since about a month the server usage report shows IP addresses instead of
computer names for the majority of the client computers. What I understand is
that, at the time of making the report, the reverse records are consulted for

Could not create the folder "Z:\My Documents"
I have a small network comprising of a SBS 2003 Standard R2, two Vista
Ultimate SP1 workstations and an XP Pro SP3 workstation. All are fully
patched.
When I attempt to install an application on either of the Vista machines I
get the error:

If I install on the XP box all is well.

Secars error 4097
Hello,
I am starting to think that an ERROR FREE event log is not possible. If I am
wrong, please correct me.
I am getting the error 4097 for Secars. The error says failed to start
Radius server. The Radius port may be in use by another process. Then right
after this the server reports the Secars has started.

SBS 2008 deployed printers to XP clients
Hello,
I performed a migration from SBS 2003 to SBS 2008 (documentation was
excellent!) and most things are doing well after the migration except
printing.
This customer has 3 new LAN printers, a Canon, Xerox and a HP.
Drivers are available for all for the server. Compabilble 32 bit drivers

Second SBS2008 Premium Server as x64?
Everything I read says that it's my choice as to whether it's 32-bit
or 64-bit.
But I've installed the second server (from the third disc) and when I
go to "About Windows" it's only showing 4GB on a 16GB machine.
I tried installing to the second server using disc 1 thinking it might
do the trick, but it's all about the SBS install, not the Standard

SBS2008: Changing users send as name site wide
Maybe it is just this awful case of the flu, but google is failing me.
I need to change it so that users' name shows up as "User Name, a
companyname represenative" instead of just "User Name."
Users are using Outlook 2007 / Exchange 2007 in SBS2008 and OWA.

SBS 2008 Fax sent notification
I have successfully setup SBS 2008 fax. I am able to send faxes by printing
to the shared fax device on the server. However, I don't know how to receive
notifications if the fax was sent successfully. I also don't know how to
setup notifications if the fax had problems sending. What is the correct way

2008 RRW Not passing on User/Pass to OWA & Internal Web
I've just loaded up a SBS 2008 machine (a first for me) and have an odd issue
where once logged into RRW the user/password data onto OWA.
Clickin on check email I get

PCI fax modem suggestions
Looking for FAX modem PCI for SBS2008. Only light use on this so not looking
for anything high price. I had USR USB modem on sbs2003 but there are no
drivers for 2008. I actually have a pile of PCI modems from other machines

sbs 2008 Hyper-V Event 4096
Hello,
I just set up SBS 2008 and a virtual server using Hyper-V.
I accomplished this after some trial/error. I set up a couple of previous
VMs without success, disabled the service and deleted the files created,
started over, etc.
I now have a successfully installed Server 2003 member server running in

Cannot get rid of error 13042 for Windows Update Services
I have tried everything and cannot seem to get this error to go away. From
what I see, I believe that WSUS is working. I would just like to get this
error out of the event log.

I was running SBS 2003, suffered a severe crash - so bought a new server
which came with SBS 2008.

Backup Failed, but not exactly

I'm in charge of reviewing error messages for a group of servers for
various companies, and this one issue has got me baffled... I receive
errors from a few of the servers about failing backup's, but they aren't

Migrating 2003 to 2008
Hi,
I have started a migration from 2003 to 2008 following the MS
migration doc and everything has worked ok up until win 2008 completed
the OS installation. It is joined onto the network and domain and
eveything looks good.
I can't ping the sbs2008 machine. From 2008 I can ping the old source
