My Documents Redirect/Sync Questions
I have set up my XP clients on an SBS 2003 R2 network to redirect My Documents to the server. Every time the user logs off the sync process starts and I can watch the progress. It eventually finishes possibly with some errors on .dbf and .mdb files that do not sync. 1. Is there some way to tell the syncing "it's ok" if we have .dbf and .mdb files that do not sync? Users think this i...

DCOM 10009 errors on SBS2008 with NAS
I have just migrated from SBS2003 to SBS2008. Everything looks ok. Except the two NAS (Synology DS207+) that I have on the network. Actually, even they work fine with the upgraded SBS2008 Domain. However, on the SBS2008 box, I get a cluster of DCOM10009 errors every 30 mins or so pointing to communication issues with the 2 NAS boxes. However, other operations (authentications from t...

Group Policy
I have a SBS 2003 Premium server that has 6 clients connected to it. I have tried to block access to the internet on the clients. I was told that you can set the group policy to add a fake proxy setting on the clients so that access to the net is only local. I made these changes to the group policy on the server but it is not filtering down to the clients. Is there anything that I need to do ...

ISA Server 2004 Pre-requisite for Migration to SBS2008
Hi there, We have SBS 2003 Premium (R1) installed - we never upgraded to R2 as we use SQL Server (2000) Analysis Services which were not included in SQL Server 2005 Workgroup Edition on R2. We therefore have ISA 2000 SP3 installed (ISA 2004 came with R2). The documents detailing the migration of SBS2003 to 2008 state that if ISA 2004 SP3 is not installed then it must be installed prior ...

My Document redirection fails for all Non Admin users
I am running SBS 2003 R2 and I am having problems getting the My Documents redirection to work on anyone other that Administrators or users with that role. I have created the share called USERS with the shares wizard. I even made sure that all the permissions for the share as well as the security were set correctly. I used a Microsoft whitepaper that discusses moving data folders and...

SBS and WebDAV
I have never configured WebDAV but I think it will work for some users that need to access files remotely. These users work in another building (client site) where VPN port is closed. So I would like to use WebDAV. Any comments? Helpful hints? Can I share out the whole company directory safely or do I only put in one or two files? Liam...

SBS 2003 Faxing Question
I have a client who is taking advantage of the built in faxing service and viewing of faxes through CompanyWeb. It's working great... almost too great. Their problem now is that they have so many faxes to manage. They get about 70/day. What can be done to "archive" old faxes from the CompanyWeb view, or at the very least change the view to show most recent faxes first in the list? ...

SBS Backup Utility and SQL 2005
I'm running SBS 2003 R2 Standard with all necessary updates. I'm currently using the standard SBS backup tool. My client does have a new SQL based network application that is running on SQL 2005 Express Edition. Does the SBS backup tool have any issues with SQL 2005 EE for backups and successfull restores? The database would be live when running the nightly backup, but no users would...
