Rolled Serial Cable
I am trying to connect a Cisco switch to a PC monitor, having seen the
prices of “old” Wyse-type vdu’s. About £45 in the UK. Naturally the
switch end is an RJ45 plug, and normally the vdu would have a serial
port input.
If I try and use a PC monitor does an adapter exist that will allow
the RJ45 lead to input to the PC monitor? It seems like I need to
convert the cable to a VGA input. Unhear...

File copy slows at 2GB
I am sure this is a known problem as it is so reproducible for me.
I have an app that copies database backups from one Windows 2003
Server to another. It runs over a Gb network and runs at about 25% for
the first 2GB of the file transfer (which is ok). However, at 2GB it
switches to about 0.1% of bandwidth -- which it does for a while.
Sometimes it switches up to 4% or 14%. Sometimes back u...
