Cannot remote into a server on LAN while connected to VPN
Hi Guys,
I have a couple of workstations at home; one is used to connect to my office
network and the other I use for hosting Hyper-V images. I use remote desktop
to access the images.
I have no problem when I remote into the images unless I am connected to my
office VPN.
I thought that maybe creating a static route might work.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks,...

Firewall issue
I have a Windows 2003 R2 Standard DC server SP2 installed on it is DHCP
server. MY workstations can not renew ipaddress when I turn on the Windows
Firewall program. I added ports 67 68 and 2535 to the exclusion list for
both TCP and UDP settings.
Still no luck
I am using the wrong ports?
Any ideas or thoughts?
Thanks

Accessing a networkshare over WAN broke after turning off NetBIOS
I am investigation the impact of turning off NetBIOS on our corporate WAN. I
have a test machine (XP Pro) on which I have disabled NetBIOS. I am trying
to connect to that test computer from another computer at the other end of
our WAN, but it fails to connect. If I turn NetBIOS back on, then it can
connect.
This doesn't make sense to me since from everything I read, the client

PC connect to internet but routers will not connect
hi,
here's the problem:
Computers connected directly to the internet will connect to the
internet. But routers connected to the internet will not connect. It's
that simple. There are no cable problems, everything simple has been
tried. It's a more complicated networking problem. There are probably
switches or other routers upstream to were I am connecting - that may
be a factor...
So...

Test servers cannot connect?
Hi,
This is a real quick question. I have setup a server with its own domain so
that I can test an exchange swing migration.
I have now created another server that I want to create as a member server
to this domain and install exchange.
However neither servers are currently activated and are running on the 30
day timer.
For some reason that I am not able to pinpoint the two serve...

Automatic VPN Type setting doesn't work in XP
I am currently upgrading our remote access VPN from PPTP to L2TP/IPSEC but I
have run into a problem with the clients.
By default the "Type of VPN" setting in a VPN connection is set to Automatic
on the built in XP VPN client. My understanding is that when Automatic is set
the system should attempt an L2TP/IPSEC connection first then if that fails
attempt a PPTP connection. However when...

We've set up a Canon MP988 network printer (connected to router) in the
printer server (running Windows Server) of a company¡CWe can see its status

However, it gives error when printing.

PPTP -client- "use default gateway" slows client to remote upload
We have a windows 2003 box with RRAS enabled for PPTP...
On the client, if they do the defaults, use default gateway is checked...
When the client does this, they then get locked in at the remote PPTP
server's max upload internet speed/pipe..
So doing a speed test on the machine(client) reveals that they have say
2.9MB download and 2.9MB upload (both values are equal to the host serve...

q: How does ping hijacking work?
I'm cleaning out an infected computer, and I've realised that it doesn't
just have 'browser' hijacking, it has 'ping' hijacking as well: most sites
(or many sites) are identified as 127.0.0.1. This is not DNS hijacking: NS
lookup still works. It is not DNS client cache corruption: I've turned off
the cache. I don't know what it is. I'm curious: What can you do to Windows
to break netwo...
