Upgrade 2003 Standard to Enterprise
I recently upgrade a Windows 2003 Standard R2 SP2 server to Windows
2003 Enterprise R2 SP2 and everything seems to have worked fine. When
I goto System Properties it reports that I am running Enterprise
Edition. However, the login screen still shows Standard Edition. Is
this normal in this situation and should I be concerned about it?

Looking for system config advice
I'm setting up a new network that will have about 70 clients. The
server load will be mainly file sharing and Exchange. I've setup
servers before but never for this many client computers.
1) Will Standard edition be sufficient? If it will support the 70
clients, then the only limitation of Standard seems to be the 4 GB
memory limit. It looks like you really only need Enterprise if you are

I will install the entire network on new hardware.
I am not sure, if I should go to IPv6. Is there a good whitepaper / URL,

Unable to create password - W2008 Ent x64
I have just installed Windows 2008 Enterprise x64. When it booted for
the first time it asked me to "change" password so I entered a new pass
word but the following message was returned:
Unable to update the password. The value provided for the new password
does not meet the length, complexity, or history requirements of the domain.

How to trigger server to reattempt printer connection

system process taking up 80-90% CPU resource
I have a windows server 2003 server setup that is having problems. Things
are running much more slowly than they did before. I went to the processes
tab of the task manager and saw that the Image Name "System" from User Name
"System" was using up to 80-90% of the CPU time and thus preventing other
things from running normal.

Open Session History Log

I can see who is currently connected to shares/sessions and how long they've
been connected. Is there a way to see a history of who was connected the
day before or week before?

Domain Admins removed from local admin group
Hi Everybody...
In a windows 2000 domain with XP clients, each user is member of the local
admin group (just a user for a PC). One user remove the domain admins group
from the local admin group. I need to restore the domain admins group as

Vista laptop not saving profile change @ logoff
Hi,
Has anyone come across the issue where when a user logs off a vista machine
on a 2003 domain the changes are not saved to his profile.
Every time user logs in he has to recreate his mail profile and desktop
background etc.
I've tried moving him to a new OU with no GPOs, recreating the profile,
ensuring the permissions on the users folder are Authenticated Users - Full

Win Server 2003 hangs at login
I have a development laptop running Windows Server 2003 and this afternoon
my programmer brings it to me and its hung at the Windows "Ctrl+Alt+Del"
screen. The point doesn't move and no keyboard response. I've tried booting
to Safe Mode and even to Last Known Good version: no dice. When its gets to

DFS Question about rights. Help Please
We have a DFS drive (H:) that hosts DFS links to each business unit drive on
Server6. This way non-Finance people can access the finance data etc. I've
just noticed users have been storing files and creating directories in this
"non existant" H: drive.
Now on Server6 there is a directory ("Shared" that has a share called

MsiInstaller Warnings on Windows Server 2003
I'm hoping someone can help me with this. While doing routine maintenance of
my servers I came across a whole heap (7,039 since October 2007) of warnings
