com folder deleted on dns server
Hi,
I think I accidentally deleted my folder on the dns server where I can see
what websites are being cached, and I believe it was the com folder.
I was trying to figure out a way to get the folder back that stores website
visits data, is there anyway to get that feature back?
I did try to create the com folder again but it does not store the website
data for some reason.

Where to put our ISP's DNS info?
Scenario: Windows 2003 R2 SP1 DC running DNS for our local clients.
Issue: I have been given two IP addresses from my ISP to use for external
DNS. Where should I enter these? As forwarders on my 2003 DNS server? Or
should this be entered into the firewall/gateway/router?
Thanks,...

Getting my server to report its name as ns0.servername.co.uk
I have setup a name server for a couple of domains we host at our
company. The name server works fine when i use the following domain
mydomain.co.uk.
I tried to give this to another company as we wanted to add our server
as a third name server for the domain. The web company would not
accept it as it wasn't in the usual format of ns0.domain.co.uk
Is it just a case of changing the compu...

DNS AD INTEGRATION PROBLEM
Hello. We've got about 20 DCs accross multiple sites and we're having
trouble with only one server. The Active Directory Integrated DNS zones will
not replicate over to it. AD itself replicates fine, but the DNS zone never
gets created.
One thing to note is that in AD Users and Computers, under System >
MicrosoftDNS, only the RDNS zones are listed here. I think this is normal,

Conditional forwarding for existing zone?
I have a client with a long established internal domain name of "US".
The domain name was setup many years ago (prior to the existance of
the top level .us domain). Consequently, we have a .us AD integrated
zone running on the network.
The obvious problem comes when a client needs to perform name
resolution for a host on the public TLD, the internal DNS server
doesn't find a matching en...

Static vs Dynamic records
Looking at DNS A records. How can I tell the difference between statically
created and dynamically created A records?
According to research static entries wont be scavenged when we turn on
scavenging, so I'd like to be able to identify them up front.
Cheers,

How to restore connection with hosts file?
Hi,
I tested something called Tor yesterday. (Inter alia it also installs

After testing it I found that entries in the hosts file appeared to be
ignored.
I then uninstalled all the test components, expected to get back to normal.
Unfortunately hosts still appears not to be "connected".
I've subsequently found tha...
