General DNS config questions
OK, here's the deal. For the past several months our company has been
receiving a LOT of delayed emails. Some by a few hours some by a few
days. As you can guess, this is a serious problem. I've tried
several things to resolve this situation:
1 - call our ISP, who was taking care of DNS for us at the time. They
said they'd heard of others having the same issue, but that the DNS
record...

DNS \ IIS Problem - Accessing web site from Internally
I have a situation that stumps me:
Company's internal DNS namespace is internal.company.org
Company has a website of www.company.org
I changed the forwarding on their existing proxy server to the internal
exchange and web servers.
Users from OUTSIDE the network can browse the web page correctly. Users
from INSIDE cannot access it correctly.
With my current internal and external...

External DNS and Internal Windows 2003 DNS Questions ( Primary / Secondary)
I am using an external DNS from the domain name register (both primary
and secondary are pointing to the registers Name Servers). I have
several sub-domains which some of them point to servers in my
infrastructure.
I have 2 AD Zone Windows 2003 DNS in my domain controllers.
My Question:
As long as is a wise solution - How can I create my own subdomains in
the Windows DNS and have them...

Pointing External DNS to Different Internal Domain Mail Server
I have an externally facing DNS stand alone windows 2003 server. I also have
a domain we'll call abc.local which is also running an exchange 2003 server.
Is it possible to use this stand alone DNS server which is in workgroup mode
to point all incoming mx lookups to this other domain? Basically the
external DNS server is hosting abc.com and the second is abc.local. How
would I do it? Usi...

Can anyone help me with this?
Hi all,
Recently, we experienced the internet slowness. The speed test is fine. It
takes too long to resolve the names. If I used the IP instead of host name
in IE, the web page came up much faster. So, it must be DNS servers. How do
I ensure it's DNS server issue? (We have one forest and child domain DNS
forwards to the root domain DNS IPs and root DNS IPs forwarded to ISP DNS

I know there's lots of info missing, but i'm looking for a prod in the right

AD DNS subdomains fail when internet lost
Yesterday, we lost our ISA server and while it was down, internal DNS went
in the toilet.
Our internal DNS is AD integrated. Our domain is internal.mycompany.com
(clients are set to append this suffix). We have 2 subdomains,
printers.internal.mycompany.com and net.internal.mycompany.com. When the
internet was lost, and therefore external DNS was lost, clients became
unable to contact r...

DNSapi errors
I have DNSapi warnings in my system logs (11151 & 11159). When I did
ipconfig /registerdns, within ten or fifteen minutes, the warnings would
appear. I went and configured a DHCP option 252 according to a KB article I
read.
Well, that seems to have worked - a little... Now when I do ipconfig
/registerdns, I no longer get the DNSapi warnings. But I still get them
randomly a couple of...

Resolution internally for domain name minus the www.
Hi,
I have always set up AD up with the same AD domain name as their registered
domain. After installation, I always manually add www to the DNS server so
internally they can type www.domainname.com to get to the external corporate
site, but how do I let them also just type in domainname.com and still get
there?
This has for the first time ever become an issue for me. Thank you.

MX record to my no-ip.biz HOST record so it resolves to my exchange server. I

Second DNS server in AD environment
I have a simple single domain AD environment, call it
'companya.abc.xyz.com'.
Originally I built the domain with a single DC that has all of the roles. I
had installed DNS on this server to support the AD environment. The DC
forwards everything it does not know about to the DNS servers for
'abc.xyz.com'. In other words, it only manages the 'companya.abc.xyz.com'
zone.
Since then I ...

General DNS question
This is a very simple question about DNS, but I just need some
verification. If you're changing colocation facilities, are the
nameservers registered with the registry (the ones returned by a
'whois' query) for that domain name what the DNS system uses to decide
where to look for the authoritative DNS entry for that domain? I ask
because we're moving 20 or so servers (with many more registe...

that the URL would look like www.jobs.usernomics.com .
