Can you unravel this DNS error?
I have a weird error when trying to connect new Outlook 2007 clients
to our exchange 2003 server. If I use the DNS/netbios name of the
Exch. server these clients won't connect. However if I use the name
of one of our DCs or DNS servers, it connects just fine.
Any ideas?...

DNS and subnet population in Sites and Services
We have a situation at my workplace where QIP is used for the primary DNS
solution. This is ran by another group within the organization. Our problem
is that the DNS administrators are constantly changing subnet assignments and
communications are non-existant across groups due to political influences
beyond our control. In the end this results in our subnet site assignments
geting out of...

Using 4.2.2.2 and 4.2.2.1 as forwarders
What is the general opinion on the use of 4.2.2.2 and 4.2.2.1 as forwarders?
Is this recommended or not? I suppose it depends on how close you are to
these servers, but I was looking for a more general recommendation. The
reason I ask is that I have a few clients using these as forwarders and I
have seen numerous instances where certain domains, primarily Microsoft ones,
failed to resolv...

Domain Controller "Status" is "not available" at new W2K8 DC Server
Hi NG,
I've added a new Domain Controller (on a new W2k8 64bit server) to my
exisiting DC's (all W2K3 32bit servers).
After recommended "adpreps" and adding the AD DS role and the DNS role in
server manager, then executing dcpromo.exe and last moving the 5 FSMO roles
(RID,PDC,Ifs, SM, DNM) to the new W2k8 DC, this all works fine.
But when then popup the Dialog "change domain controller....

Help with Scavenging
Hi,
I have a Windows 2003 Active Directory domain, with DDNS and DHCP, with
a mix of Windows and Linux boxes all connected to the domain (linux
boxes connected with Winbind and Samba).
My problem is that the linux boxes, which get their IP addresses from
the AD DHCP, and appear in the DNS (after adding
DHCP_HOSTNAME=computer.domain.local to the ifcfg-eth0), seem to get
scavenged, and d...

A new Windows Server 2008 DC was added to the domain. When compared [in DNS]

W2K domain DHCP-DNS question
Hello,
My question is, when I go to the DHCP management console and I ask for
PROPERTIES of a DHCP server, under ADVANCED there is a Credential button
next to the DNS Dynamic updates registration credentials. What is the
username they are referring to there? I beleive it's a different one for
each DHCP server in the domain.

Bad DNS requests are being hijacked
Hi all,
We run Windows 2003 DNS. I noticed today that when I typed in a bad DNS
name in my browser that it sent me to the following site:
wwwe.sitefindservice.info (which is an advertising site).
If I type in any URL that doesn't exist, I get sent to this site. For
example, If I dig at my DNS server for fake.fake, it sends me back
8.15.7.102, which is the IP for wwwe.sitefindse...

unexpectedly". Remove the duplicate and the service start fine.
