Fault-tolerant DHCP (Windows 2000 Networking)
It goes without saying that there are a good number of reasons to deploy
fault-tolerant DHCP, and that in the case of reserved leases (such as for
printers and remote servers that move about like those on construction
sites), how can we deploy DHCP such that no intervention would be required
immediately in the event of a loss-of-single-point-service failure. I
thank-you all in advance for yo...

Clusternode 2 cant find quorumdisk
Hi!
Specs: We have a 2003-sp2-cluster, which has been running fine for more
than 2 years now. Setup is Active/Active, with fileshares on each node
(3 and 4 disks each, 3 and 4 shares).
Today I did the usual MS-Update thingie, moving the ressources to node
1, updating node 2, reboot node 2. When I reverted node's 2 ressource to
itself, everything worked fine.
I just recognized by a g...

Fibre Channel and iSCSI cluster
Folks,
I need your help. I have a couple of MSCS clusters. The first cluster
contains two nodes using Fibre Channel and the second is a two node cluster
using iSCSI. Both these clusters use resources like Disks from a SAN. Both
the cluster setup are in a single domain.
I created a disk in the SAN and presented to the four nodes of both the
clusters. The SAN allowed this since the SAN...

Generic Services with Dependencies on MSDTC and RPC
I've got some services for some third party software that I would like to
cluster on our existing two node cluster. These services are dependent on
MSDTC and RPC. I've got MSDTC clustered already as recommended in the
appropriate kb article. Would it make sense to add these services to the
group that contains MSDTC? Can I cluster RPC? Is there a white paper or kb
on how to do that s...

FailOver
I have two mirrored SQL 2005 servers which are administered by a third
server. I am not sure if this has been set up as a cluster as I am not fully
up to par with clustering.
Currently is 'SQLPrimary' goes down than all applications accessing data,
stop responding. Most applications were written in vb.net 2005 and the data
connection have the failover set.
Is there any 'procedures'...

EventID 1055 after Migration
I migrated my cluster on to a new storage array, and copied the old volume
signatues to the new volumes.
Now the File shares won't come on line
EventID 1055 Code 1130 and EventID 2011
Searching solutions on the web suggest that a third party software lowered
my IRPstackSize, but the software on the system has not changed, (and other
clusters migrated fine)....

Duplicate mac addresses on HP Proliant BL460c G1 servers?
Hi all,
We're trying to setup a failover cluster using two HP Proliant BL460c G1
servers. As our plan is to use this cluster for Hyper-V we're setting up the
network cards in a team and using virtual VLAN networks for all our VLANs
(we have 10 of these).
The problem we're experiencing is that the virtual vlan adapters are getting
the same MAC address and that "Failover Clustering" do...

Problem pinging other NLB servers...
Windows Server 2003 SP2 R2
Each server has two NICs: "Server NIC" and "NLB NIC"
I just added a new server to an existing NLB cluster. I've matched all the
settings on the new server to the existing NLB servers, however, since the
time I enabled and configured NLB on the new server it will no longer ping
the existing NLB servers in the cluster. The other NLB servers can ping the
new s...

Windows 2003 Cluster not setting up 2nd node
Howdy-
In this two-node cluster, both servers can see the shared storage fine (mapped as Q:
drive, reads/writes from both), but when we follow the procedure in the 'Guide to
Configuring a Server Cluster Under Windows 2003', the first node sets up properly, but
when the 2nd node gets added, the drive goes offline for the 2nd node.
We're following the guide faithfully, but can't seem to ...

Windows 2008 File Cluster - file share scoping
Hi,
We are currently in the process of migrating from an old fileshare to a new
fileshare. The new fileshare is setup on a Windows 2008 file cluster.
The problem is that we need to re-use our old dns-name for our fileserver
but when we do that we cant see the shares. We register the cname in our dns
to the new fileshare IP, but when we browse it it is empty.
if we browse \\newfiles...

Standby Cluster Server 2003 Issues accessing replicated LUNS
Hello all, looking for a bit of advice as I seem to have hit a brick wall in
being able to get our setup working.

and connected to a EMC CX500 storage array. This cluster is running 3
exchange virtual servers and each virtual server has a 2 dedicated LUNs one
for the Database(s) and one for the logs.

1207 error - need help
tHi all, I need some help troubleshooting this error. WS2008 Enterprise is
my OS. When I check CLUSTERNAME$ I see Self has Change Password rights.
What else may there be that I'm missing? FYI, this resource is online, but
I'm worried a failover will prevent things from actually coming back online.
Below is the error message with a couple of comments by me for clarification.

My cluster appears to have a memory leak. Poolmon indicates that the tag
MPIO is gradually using up my non-paged pool memory. Eventually resources
begin to fail and finally I get Event 2019 indicating depletion of the

this line to the Storage discussion group and someone indicated that it is a

supports a resource, a drive that is a bit larger then 4TB. The node that

configured this 4TB resouce in this cluster did something to allow this size
of disk to be usable within the cluster. That is, I am unable to fail the

W2k3 R2 Cluster: Virtual Server name Machine Accounts in Domain
Hi All,
I'm trying to get to the bottom of the purpose of machine accounts for the
virtual nodes that get created in AD.
We've built a 2 node active/active cluster with 6 virtual nodes on it (each
with their own LUN, etc...). I've noticed that each virtual node has created
a computer account in AD.
Reading the documentation this is required for Kerberos Authentication, and
that is...
