Problems with Winistall LE
Hi
Im trying to create packages on WinINSTALL LE and I am having some
issues. Firstly I have created a totally new system with only Windows
2000 Pro on it. I then follow the instruction Microsoft gave about
running the Before Snapshot using Discoz.exe on another PC with the
software installed. This causes no problems and the snapshot runs ok.

Windows Installer always rolling back
I have tried to install 3 different progams today, and Windows Installer gets
tot he end of the install, and then rolls back.
Could this be a virus or skyware?
I am running Windows XP.

Hi,
I have ried to installl 3 different programs today, and they all get to the
end of the instlal, and then Windows Installer starts to roll back. Could

Advertising with windows media server
It is possible to insert advertising onto a live streaming with windows
media server?
Wich recommended configuration should i have to have a stream from a tv
source to up to 5 clients in a intranet environment.
We would like to insert advertisings inside the video from time to time.

MSI-Installation Error 102/108/1085 in Event-Log
Hello,
since a few days I try to install a MSI-package by allocating over
Active Directory (Computer Settings).
After rebooting the test system I see the message that the software
will be installed right now. A few seconds later I get the Win-XP
Login-Screen.
In the event log I see the message, that the installation could net
be completed because the installation source is not availab...

How to package multiple msi files ?
OK, So it seems that it is no longer recommended to use nested installs.
How do I create a single download (or package) that consists of 2 or 3 msi
files that need to run one after the other ?

Error 2908 when calling sqlncli for install package on Vista
I'm trying to run an install on Vista (the install runs fine on every other
platform)
I have a Custom Action to run the sqlncli.msi install from within our
install.
If I try to run sqlncli.msi on its own then it run correctly.
I am running our install using the option "Run as administrator"
However when the sqlncli starts running I get an error 2908 which is

Deploy new merge module via MSP
The sales tool software I support uses the Crystal 9 merge module, but
we recently discovered the need to send Crystal 8.5 as well. I've
added the merge module and rebuilt our MSI to verify that Crystal 8.5
fixes what we need fixed.
The problem is that I need to deploy this via an MSP. The usual
process I follow to crank out an MSP has resulted in errors Val0012
and Val0015.

Deploying Adminpak 2000 from Svr 2003 to 2000 clients
The problem percieved is that to manage Server 2003 from Windows 2000
the Server 2000 adminpak is required and this does support Server 2k3
management. The problem is that when setting up group policy to deploy
the package an error is generated that implies it cannot e used
because it is not a 2k3 package.
The message says that the adminpak.msi should be validated.

Creating IIS Virtual Directory with WiX 3

msiexec behavior different on XP vs. Win2003
Short version:
When I run an MSI that's already installed on XP, it aborts with an error.
When I run the same MSI when it's already installed on Win2003 Server, it
gives me the maintenance dialog.
Is this by design?
Longer version:

Runas with MSI
In an attempt to improve security I have removed the local administrator
account on my desktop. This generally works well and when I need to install
something I can right click and select runas then select the domain admin
account. However I recently tried to install activesync and noticed that on

Error 2763 trying to install PKI Patches
Am trying to setup SMS 2003 SP2 packages and advertisements for Verisign PKI
patches,
specifically the OnSiteMSI and the mpki_vscnfchk_eu_sp1 msi patches, to all
our computers PRIOR to installing the PKI product itself. The patches

I have an odd issue I haven't seen.
I am running server 2003 with exchange, and have been doing some cleanup and
uninstall of some applications, these include dell openmanage administrator,
and array manager, and symantec anti-virus for exchange. After I did the

OCS Beta msi installer error
I downloaded the OCS Standard Edition beta from the website and am receiving
an error. It tells me it is not a valid installer package. I have tried it on
3 systems and also completely rebuilt a fresh Windows 2003 server with SP1 to
no avail. I have also tried 3 separate downloads but all do the same thing.
Is this MSI corrupt or am I missing something?

need help installing file
hello. i have a question .
i need to install a patch to all computers on my network ( around 400)
KB927891
the problem is the patch is an .exe file and as far as i know Active
directory can only deploy software that 's in .msi form.
any one have any ideas or know of a place where these patches can be changed
to an .msi file. ?

MSI error 1015 safemode
MSI error when I install and uninstall- I am unable to then do either. it

MsiInstaller- error 1015, safemode
MsiInstaller is not allowing me to run any installers or unistallers, yet it
comes back with an error saying I am in safe mode or that there might be
issues with MsiInstaller therefore see your support personal.....
I understand there to be table that holds options for MSI, but where is it.
SFC /scannow doesn't help because XP is a recovery CD and unfortunately I
