Linksys DMA2200 and AVG Firewall
I am trying to set up the AVG firewall for the Linksys DMA2200 Media Center
Extender. Can anyone help? I have the Microsoft document that gives all the
ports that need to be open but trying to translate this into the AVG
environment is driving me mad.

clean up registry - XP
I am using win xp - and have been told to clean up registry and yet other

MS Wireless Keyboard 1000
Microsoft Wireless keyboard 1000 bought this week contains no documentation
to explain how to use all of the keys. For example, on all keyboards I have
ever used the F5 key is pressed to get a refresh of any page I am viewing.
On the 1000 keyboard F5 appears to open a file. There are icons shown on
every function key, but there is no documentation to show what feature is

Media Center version install problems
I have done 3 complete fresh installs of Media Center XP 2005 and it keeps
coming up with the same error messages. It formats and goes thru the load
of files but then asks for disk 2 and I insert and it process some and then
asks for disk 2 again and comes up with an error that it cannot find
IEXPLORE.EXE and will not continue on its own. I have to cancel out of this
and it continues ...

Adjusting picture in Windows Media Center
Hello:
The picture I am getting from Windows Media Center while watching Cable
Television is not crisp and clear-- is there a way to adjust the picture??..
Also- the color is very intense-- is there a way to adjust the intensity of
color while watching TV in WMC?? (I am running Windows Home Premium on a
Sony Vaio). Thanks!

XP Home --> Professional
My computer originally came pre-installed with XP Home Edition on it. I have
an older licensed copy of Windows XP Professional (never used) that I want to
upgrade my computer with. Unfortunately the CD's version of XP Professional

Setting up Offline Files
I can't get Offline Files to work at all. I follow all the instructions and
help material, but after I set Folder Options to Enable Offline Files, I
can't get the menu option to appear that says Make Available Offline for any
folder or file....

Save TV programs to Server shared folder?
I have a Sony Vaio XP MCE computer with rollup 2. I also have another
computer which I have re-purposed as a server using Window Home Server.
So far, it seems that I can only have recorded TV programs saved on a
hard drive that is connected directly to the MCE computer.
But is there any way I can point MCE to save recorded TV programs to the

Driver for RT73 USB Wireless LAN Card

I've got Media Center edition and want to clean off some old programs.
When I go to Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and click on it, it
just flashes. Nothing opens up.
1. Can I fix the Add-Remove programs behavior?

Terminal Svc. won't start
I've reset the manual/automatic settings in the Terminal Svc. properties
window and rebooted. It does not start on auto and when I try to start it
manually, this occurs:
"The terminal service on local computer started then stopped etc."
My ASP.NET is affected by this.
Any ideas would be very welcome.

Using MCE without a TV
I'd like to hook my Linksys MCE to the stereo in my living room. But, I do
not have a TV there to navigate the menu.
I understand that the MCE display is actually running on the PC. So, the
question is, can I launch the MC software on the PC and re-direct the audio
to the MCE?
If I can do this somehow, will I still be able to listen to music/tv/etc on
the PC?
Any thoughts would ...

Remove one of the dual boot options in boot up
Had to reinstall windows media center - now have an option to select a the
orginal OS (which doesn't work now) - would like to remove the second
option to boot from the old system -

MCE and HDTV with Pinnacle 801e
I'm trying to get MCE to work with my Pinnacle HDTV stick for HD stations. My
setup: I've got my Comcast cable plugged into the stick and everything
works perfect using Pinnacle's TV Center Pro software - all analog and
digital channels including all the HDTV channels work fine. I prefer the
MCE user interface and guides so I'm just trying to get it to tune in the

Can't rename folders (all of a sudden!)
XP Media center, 1.5 year old HP laptop. Suddenly can't rename folders. Right
clicking on folder, there is no "rename" option anymore. Clicking on dropdown
"File" tab, "rename" is grayed out. What to do? (Why do things change? Did
the last Windows update screw something up?)
This is not a networked laptop. I am the administrator (or at least have
been all along!). ...
