No video with Media Center Live TV
I'm running Media Center on XP Media Center Edition (surprise) and a
little while ago it suddenly stopped showing TV video.
Mostly, it looks like it has no connection to the TV reciever. When
trying to watch television, the image is black, there's no sound.
However, nothing in the settings for the connection was changed in the
time and it can still recieve the TV guide without problems. It doesn...

Hauppauge 150MCE
Hi,
I getting to the point where I'm giving up...
TV Tuner card not found....!
I can't make my Vista Premium detect my Hauppauge 150MCE TV tuner card. When
I look in Device Manager I can see 2 unknown devices, which has something to
do with the 150MCE cards.
I have tried just about anything including following the installation guide

I am constantly receiving the following error message from the Media Center
Receiver Service and although I am able to close the message it keeps coming
back after a few minutes. (Media Center is not running when I get this

Shows only tape for 12 minutes and then stop.
Set it up to tape 6, 30 minute shows, back-to-back and set each one for 30
minutes but for some reason I only records the first 12 minutes stops and
then records the first 12 minutes of the next show.
Plenty of room on the HD.
Any thoughts?

windows installer
everytime i open a program a small box with no error message opens and it
says windows installer
installing
it causes my programs to run slow or sometimes the program will not open at

Why will my Wallpaper only show up with explorer.exe is closed?
Wallpaper won't show up unless I close explorer.exe?
I restarted my computer and upon bootup part of my wallpaper shows up, only
the part where my object dock is. The rest shows up as a grey background.
It's not terrible , but I would like to know the reason. This is what it

Linksys extender not found
I am using a Linksys 2100 extender which was working fine and attached with
no trouble to my media center pc. But after I upgraded my router from Belkin
g to Belkin N, I can no longer see or sttach to the extender (after setting

Linksys MCE cannot connect to MCE PC
When my linksys WMCE54ag tries to connect to MCE 2005 it says contacting the

windows media centre and setting up laptop as an extender
I have tried with no luck to link my laptop up to my main media centre.
The system finds the xbox great but when you look for extenders it is saying
that no extenders can be found (even though the xbox is actually switched on
and connected).
Is there any way in which I can get my main pc to find my laptop as an

Won't reboot - blue screen only
I was asked to help this owner so I don't have all information - XP Media
Center Home Edition on DELL computer. Owner was trying to update something
(doesn't know what) and screen went blank. On reboot only blue screen will
come up no matter if last config., safe mode, normal or whatever. No OS disc

audio delay
Why is it that listening to a program simultaneously on my Tv card (Hauppauge
Wintv 1800) and my Tv shows a delay in transmission between them? Is there
some way to compensate for this? It's not a big deal but is annoying for me
at times.

Media Center Error Message
I recently lost my graphics card & had to re-install everything on my hard
drive. Media Center will open but I get an error message the states
"Messenger Failure - Unable to open Messenger" And if I try to use the TV
tuner I get a decoder error.

9-12% CPU Usage At Idle?
Is there anything in MCE that runs in the background and doesn't
show up in TaskMan's Processes tab?
I'm getting consistent CPU usage between 9 and 13% with nothing
showing in Applications. i.e. as far as I'm concerned, no
program is running. 460 megs in use.
The other day, I saw higher usage and all memory in use.
Some kind of virus/Trojan? Or could it be an MCE component?

Onboard MPEG2 Encoding: No Advantage w/Digitia?
The other day I read something that made me think that, since OTA
digital TV signals are already digital, all the heavy lifting has
already been done and there's no advantage to the more expensive
cards w/onboard MPEG2 encoders.
Did I get it right? Or should I still be shopping for a couple

Starting with media center
Hi everybody.
I was looking for some short advice.
Now I have a WXP professional SP3 in my HTPC.
Wich options do I have to install WMCE?
I think there are two options:
- First option: Something like updating WXP to WMCE... then I would
have WMCE installed "instead of" WXP.

HDD for Backup
I have 2 HDD's IN my desktop; the 250GB preinstalled and an 80GB from my old
desktop. How do I remove everything on the 80GB so that I can use it for
backups for restoring as well as for file archiving? FAT32 or NTFS? How do
I get the backups and files I want to archive from the Main(250GB) HDD to the

Sudden huge decrease in available space on my C Drive
I have Windows XP Service Pack 2 (maybe SP 3). Service Pack 3 is in my
add/remove programs list, but there is no corresponding MB amount shown.
I have just noticed a sudden and unexplained drop in available space on my C
