GPO Scripts are defaulting to the wrong folder!
Hope someone can help here. Our SBS2003 server has lost the location of
the scripts folder when navigating it through group policy. For example,
when you go to the startup scripts and click on Show Files, it will
point to:
C:\WINDOWS\System32\GroupPolicy\User\Scripts\Logon
whereas it should point to:
\\server\SYSVOL\domain\Policies\{DF62EF61-D620-4D22-B2D4-875038F4F157}\User\Scripts\Log...

Failed to refresh user policy. Error - Access is denied.
I get the subject message when I do a gpupdate /force.
We've been scratching our heads for a couple days on this. We're not even
sure if access is denied to something local or some policy.
Any ideas?
Thanks,

GPO on Vista Business in a 2003 Active Directory
Hello,
I'm brand new to GPO's but not brand new to Windows. I have been
reading and working with GPO's for just a couple days and having some
difficulty with Server 2003 and Vista business.
I have created a new OU and a new user and placed the new user into
the new OU. I have also blocked inheritance and made sure gpresult
does not show any trickle down policy into my new OU.
I unders...

IE7 and GPO via Proxy
I have searched everything and can't find answer to this problem. I guess a
lot of people have similar problem with IE7.
I have 5 TS running Windows 2003 64bit Sp2, with IE7. I am not able to apply
proxy settings via gpo for users. It worked fine with IE6 on Windows 2000
SP4. I have tried every possible option, such as disable per machine setting,
updating new adm templates, creating a ...

Mandatory profile
We have a domain setup. Our student accounts are set to use a mandatory
profile. The profile is downloaded properly from the server, the student is
presented with their desktop, they do their thing, then they log off.
Everything is good, so far.
The problem (which seems rather random) comes in the fact that, even with
the machines having UHPC 1.6/2.0 installed, some profile folders a...

I have created a workstation policy that sets the hibernation settings
on our Vista notebooks. I have since changed these settings as they

Power Settings via GPO - WIN2003/WINXP
Good morning!
I know that this would not be a problem in WIN2008/VISTA but we have WIN2003
and WINXP PRO. So......
I have created an .adm file and have imported it without issue. It loads
nicely and everything looks good. I did all of this in a test environment
(without any clients...).
So, in a production environment I created an OU and created a couple of

Best practice on GPO exeptions based on computer
We have a default GPO that among other things enforce screensaver with a
password protection. This is applied to all users. But.... when some of
these users logs onto specific computers, these policies should not have
affect - meaning no enforced screensaver.
Have been trying to make this work, but can only get this done by making
exeptions on users - not on computers.
What is best a...

Printer Deployment via GP and VBScript question
Hi,
I am migrating our printers to a new print server and came up with a
vbscript to do pretty much all the work. The script basically checks for all
of the printers attached to the old print server, connects the user to the
new server and gets rid of the old. It also looks for their default printer
and moves that as well. I came up with this script as a one shot deal so as
not to ...

Import/Export
Hi there,
We are soon to install SBS 2008. This is planned to be a fresh install as
opposed to a migration. However, I was wondering if it was possible to
export GP settings from our current SBS 2003 machine to say a CSV or XLS
file and import them into the new SBS 2008 machine? Is there any third party
solutions that might handle this?
Thx,
Kim.

Enforce "Password Never Expires" Setting?
Does anyone know of a way to use group policy to enforce the user account
setting "password never expires?" I have an OU that contains only service
accounts, and it's important that these not have their passwords require

I've looked at group policy settings for user configuration and don't find
anything that would accomplish this. I've also found some possible scripts...
